Why is this so cheap compared to the Sonnet M.2 4x4 PCIe 3.0 x16 Card for NVMe SSDs? Does it require a specific CPU or additional hardware to function similarly?

This card will only handle the m.2 SSD. Only as an interface. The Sonnet card has built in RAID configuration that can be set up.

This card works with only one drive in my Asus X299 Sage. It does NOT show more than one drive. I think I saw somewhere that it works in X299. Yes as a single drive card, more than one drive will not show. I had to resort to a single drive card that's like $20.
