This lens has Optical Design 11 Elements in 9 Groups and Diaphragm Blades 9, Rounded verses Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ED Lens Optical Design 11 Elements in 8 Groups Diaphragm Blades 7, Rounded technically this is a better lens

When I mount this on my Z9 camera, the mount is SO TIGHT I need to force it on. Is mine defective or are others seeing this?
Asked by: Amanda
FYI, I have a rainbow of z lenses (14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 50, 85, 105) and NONE of these has the ridiculously tight mount of the 35 mm I just bought (exchange pending), so this is NOT a general feature of Z lenses.

All the reviews seem to indicate Z6 or Z7 cameras. How is this lens with the Z50? Anyone?
Asked by: Thomas
Z50 is a crop sensor (DX) so the 35mm will be like a 50mm.

Considering this lens for filmmaking. Does the focus ring on lens work well with follow focus motors? Or would I have to get a focus gear ring?
Asked by: Elena
I would get a Nikon 35mm 1.4 manual focus lens instead with a focus ring.

Would you get this to replace a Tamron 35/1.4?
Asked by: Javier
If you're happy with the lens you're using, then save the money. If you need to move to a new lens then seriously consider the Nikor Z35 F1.8; great bokeh, super sharp and fast focus as you'd expect from a prime lens.

Similar to other 9-blade rounded aperture lenses, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S Lens BH #NIZ3518 produces 18-point starbursts / sunstars in images when a source of light is bright and small.
