We do not recommend using the Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens with UV Filter Kit with the Sony FX6 Full-Frame Cinema Camera (Body Only), BH #SOFX6, because the lens is designed for use with APS-C sensors and the FX6 has a larger, full-frame sensor. If you were to use the Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens with UV Filter Kit with the FX6 there would be a noticeable vignette unless you were to crop into the shot.

Two questions: Can you manually focus without damaging the motor, Finally, how sharp are the images?. Reports say so-so
Images look great and sharp. Obviously, it will make a difference how far you are from subject, and all the various settings - such as F-stop, lighting, and of course, if you are focused well. As long as images are taken normally, you will be able to count every hair on a person's face! Why wouldn't that be the case - especially with a lens of this price!
(It was the case with the 16-55 Sony a6000 kit lens too, but this has the advantage of F4 even when fully zoomed in, and zooms twice as far, and has better optical stabilization - and looks cooler too!:)
BTW, what are these comments about not forcing lens rings; they turn continuously. Does it mean not too quickly?

It will depend on the camera that you use the Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens with. A camera with a larger sensor, higher bit rate will offer better quality.

Is there any way to avoid the zoom reverting to 18mm setting when the camera goes into energy saving mode or is turned off? Is this a common occurrence with fly-by-wire zoom. Very annoying to have to re-zoom every time!
Most Sony cameras allow you to set the energy-saving interval time; on the a6400, it can be set to 30 minutes before the power is cut off. Look on the camera menu under the setup icon.

Would this lens fit on a Panasonic GH5 if I were to get an adapter for it? If so what kind of adapter would I need for it to fit on the GH5?
I am not aware of any Sony lens compatible adapter for a Panasonic GH5 but I use a Metabones adapter to attach my Canon lenses to my Sony a6600.
