I have a Vixia HF G40 but sound isn't picking up when I plug it in, but it is with a DSLR camera. Is it compatible with Canon Vixia HF G40 camcorder?
Asked by: Kenda
Because the Polsen MVP-3 Micro Directional Shotgun Microphone for DSLR, Smartphones, and Portable Recorders requires plug-in power from the camera's input connection, it is not compatible for use with the microphone input on the Canon VIXIA HF G40 Full HD Camcorder. The HF G40's input does not supply any power to external microphones and is only compatible for use with microphones that power themselves. The camera also features an advanced accessory shoe that offers a cable-free connection for certain microphones such as Canon's DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone (BH #CADM100) as an alternative.

Is this mic directional? I'd like to use it to record bird calls.
Asked by: Bill
This is a cartioid pick up pattern mening it will "hear" mostly the sound from what the mic is pointed at and reject sounds from the sides and back.
