Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good flash in a small package This is a small, light weight flash that wont weigh down your camera.  I use it when I dont need a full feature flash with all the bells and whistles and excessive size and weight   It is quite simple to use, adjusts quickly from Manual to Automatic to TTL with little effort and provides rapid compensation.  With full tilt and rotation and compact size it is a good bargain for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Little flash Seems very well built and sturdy. I love the manual dials so much better than screen control. Nice size for my small mirrorless cameras.  Seems very accurate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed because it does NOT work with Nikon Z6 I bought this flash for my Nikon Z6 because it is relatively small.  Its the perfect size for the Z6, but unfortunately it doesnt work properly. When set to A, the flash overexposes every image by at least 2 stops.  When set to TTL, setting the exposure compensation dial on the flash to -2 still leaves the images overexposed by about 1 stop.  I know this problem is specific to the Z6 because I tried the flash on my D750, D5600, and D7000, and all images were exposed correctly on the A setting on the flash.  I sent an email to Nissin support, and explained the problem.  They replied quite promptly, and explained that they were working on a firmware update.  They didnt give any timeframe on when it would be available, and I was unable to find any information on how I would apply it.  My guess is that I would have to send the flash to them for a replacement. I will keep the flash because it works fine on my other Nikon cameras, but I am not going to hold my breath about it ever working on my Z6.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hot Shoe difficultly This seems to work fine. The hot shoe is very tight to mount and remove from the camera. I have light filled the mount on the flash unit are it is better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Its been said, good things come in small packages. And this unit is such. its my first Nissin flash, my exposures using a Sony A 6300 are what I expected. I am so pleased, now looking at the other units in the Nissin line up.

Does it support high speed sync on camera for ...

Does it support high speed sync on camera for four thirds? The description states: "High speed synchronization (*1) (Four Thirds) FP High- Speed Sync FP High-Speed Sync setting in A, M, TTL mode and wireless mode are controlled by master unit. Please check your camera instruction manual. (*1)?Only applicable to wireless Slave mode. Group A - C (any channel 1 - 4)" So, only external wireless? Not on camera?
    Asked by: German
The i400 does support High Speed Sync. on those cameras which allow it. FP sync is a term used for HSS by Nikon and Fujifilm Camera bodies. To activate the HSS on the FT version of the i400, simply press and hold the green pilot ligh button for a few seconds. The mode light will begin to blink. This indicates that the flash is in high speed sync. mode. There is some mis-information here as the i400 DOES NOT have any optical slaves or groups A-C. These features can be found on the Nissin i40 flash. The i400 is for on camera use only and has an "A" mode, a "TTL" mode and a "manual" mode only. I hope this answers your questions

does the af assist light work with sony mirrorless?
    Asked by: Anonymous
No, unfortunately not. This is not a function of the flash. It is actually a function of the camera. The Sony mirrorless Cameras have a built in AF assist beam on the camera itself. Therefore it will not send a signal to the flash to activate the AF assist beam. This is also true with the flashes made by Sony themselves. I hope this explanation helps.
