Blackmagic Design Duo 2 Overview

Ingest and play back high-resolution video and audio for digital signage, real-time capture, or media player applications with the DeckLink Duo 2 Mini Capture and Playback Card from Blackmagic Design. The Duo 2 Mini is a low-profile PCIe card that features four bidirectional mini BNC SDI inputs/outputs. Additionally, the DeckLink Duo 2 Mini includes a reference input and supports 16 channels of 48 kHz 24-bit audio.

The DeckLink Duo 2 Mini offers flexible format and system support, letting you work with popular compressed video formats such as ProRes, AVCHD, XDCAM, and DNxHD, as well as up to 12-bit uncompressed video. When working with uncompressed video, all images are pixel-for-pixel identical to the source, without any generational loss. This lets you get sharper keying with green screens, cleaner compositions, superior color correction, and more. Support for common file formats provides ready-to-edit files for use in popular editing, effects, and design software applications. The DeckLink Duo 2 Mini is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux-based workstations. Drivers and utility software are included on an SD card for the supported platforms.

Blackmagic Design Duo 2 Reviews

Works well

Wanted to capture 3 cameras at 60 FPS. Unlike every USB solution that we tried, this worked in a Thunderbolt enclosure perfectly.

Problem Solved!

Our Mac Studio kept getting confused on what picture to output on each of the built-in thunderbolt ports, and freezing video coming into another thunderbolt port. This keeps the outputs going to the correct displays, and so far video input has not frozen. Haven't used in live production yet, but fingers crossed, our livestream glitches are behind us.

Each of the connections may be configured as either an input or an output but obviously not at the same time.

The card can input and output video up to 1080p60. Support for SDI Color Precision and Video Sampling rates is different for input and output at different rates. The card supports 8 and 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 in all modes. 8 and 10-bit RGB 4:4:4 in all modes up to 1080p30. And 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 on playback only up to 1080p30.

This card can input and output video up to 1080p60. If that camera outputs 3G-SDI in 8/10-bit YUV 4:2:2 and complies with SMPTE standards then it should work with this card.
