CineStill Film DF96 Monobath for Black & White Film (Powder, to Make 1L)
Key Features
  • Single Bath, Single Step Developer/Fixer
  • Constant Developing Time for All Films
  • Room Temperature Processing
  • Adjust Contrast, Push/Pull via Temp.
Simplifying film development, DF96 from Cinestill is a monobath, self-completing chemistry for use with nearly all black & white film types. Rather than traditional multi-bath processes, with separate developer and fixer chemistries, DF96 is an all-in-one, single-step solution to fully process film in approximately three minutes. DF96 also requires no dilution and is reusable for developing at least 16 rolls of film per liter of chemistry.

No. There's no restriction while traveling and bringing along a two or three packets of DF96 powder. But we always suggest checking in with your airline carrier are rules are always subject to change.

Can a partial packet, ie 1/2, be mixed for low volume needs? If so, will the remaining powder remain viable as long as it is stored properly?
Asked by: Chris
Chris, indeed you split the powder up. One package is crystalized form pellets, the other is more finely stratified powder. Both are completely uniform in their ingredient structures for stability and shipping purposes. This also has the side benefit of making them very easy to split and store. Both CS kits (Mono and CS41) are now my go to, full time dev, which in combination with 500ml glass storage and a Lab Box (500ml capacity) allows me to get upwards of 40 plus rolls with the Df96 with careful storage, pouring and such. (50 plus rolls for the color kit, theoretically, but I don't shoot that much color so haven't tested that yet.) Doing this has allowed me to shoot my Portra 400 at $10.38 a roll (.29cents a shot), and the Tri-X 400 at $6.42 a roll (.18cents a shot). I'm happy enough with this single roll at a time development (Lab Box and 500ml of Chem) that I converted my entire system over to this ideal for ease and simplicity: https://www.instagram.com/p/CKNIkYpDZxs/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Best wishes... -Cliff

Will it work with both c41 black and white film rolls and regular black and white rolls ?
Asked by: Mohamad
DF96 is a black and white film developer only. If you own C-41 B&W film by Kodak those films will need to be processed with C-41 which is a color developer.
