Combining a comfortable wide-angle design with an ultra-fast maximum aperture, the 16mm f/1.4 DC DN is part of Sigma's Contemporary series of lenses and designed for use with APS-C-format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Characterized by its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens is adept at working in low-light conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for selective focus control. The optical design makes use of several low dispersion and aspherical elements, which control color fringing and various aberrations in order to provide high sharpness and clarity throughout the aperture range. Individual elements also feature a super multilayered coating to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. Benefitting the optical assets, this lens also sports a stepping AF motor for quick, quiet, and smooth focusing performance that suits both still photography as well as video applications.

As part of the Contemporary line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve a balance between convenience and performance, and meshes a compact, lightweight build and versatile handling with notable optical attributes.

16mm, 30mm, and 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lenses Kit for Sony E Reviews

Great for Sony APSC, Horrible for Micro 4/3

I use this trio for my A6*** cameras, they all are perfect. The only lens that works for the M 4/3 system is the 16mm, which works just fine. The 30mm and 56mm are horrible at auto and manual focus on the GH5ii. I was so disappointed in their performance I had to send them back.

These primes come in a set which is perfect for my new Sony A6400. Low light capability is excellent.

I returned the lenses. The APSC on the full frame sensor it a list of other post steps and things to worry about when shooting. I thought I would be okay with it but after some tests, I just can't. Sigma still makes great lenses!

Best EF-M Primes

There aren't a ton of EF-M lens options, and while I enjoy my manual primes this trio of Sigma lenses can't be beat. Fast autofocus, sharp images, solid construction. If you have an EF-M camera, these are a must-have.

Stellar! Simply Stellar!

I've used these lenses for a video shoot with my Panasonic GH5 and my results were gorgeous, if not stunning. I know these praises are normally used for lenses costing $4,000.00 each but, believe me, these Sigma lenses really deliver. I used them in an available light situation indoors, with only faded, yellowish, recessed, ceiling fluorescent lighting and was very concerned about my resultant image quality. When I arrived home, I reviewed my footage on a 4K monitor and my videos were sharp, clear and realistic with fantastic color rendition. I didn't even have to set up one supplemental light source. This three kens kit is a must for videographers. True, these lenses focus by wire but with constant practice or non moving shots you will not be disappointed. No regrets whatsoever on this purchase.

I’m planning on getting the trio for my canon m50. Will I be able to use them in the future with an adapter if I change my body to the Sony mirrorless or maybe canon R? I love these lenses but I’m afraid I may be over committing for something I may not be able to bring with me to other bodies. Love your help and clarification. Thank you!
Asked by: swiss
I'm sorry but there are no Canon EF-M mount lenses adapters. You would have to get a Canon EF mount, then you could use them on all the cameras.

If I choose "Sony E" for the lens mount then will these work (without "vignetting" or anything like that) with the Sony a7 iii? And will they be the same effective focal-lengths (16mm, 30mm, and 56mm) still?
Asked by: Tucker
Unfortunately, as these are APS-C format lenses, they would mount but work "poorly". Your A7III will go into Super35 crop mode and use a 1.5x crop factor. The lenses would then be equivalent to 24mm, 45mm, and 85mm.
