FUJIFILM XF 60mm f/2.4 R Macro Overview

Complementing the lens itself, the FUJIFILM XF 60mm f/2.4 R Macro Lens with Lens Care Kit from B&H bundles the telephoto macro prime with a lens cleaning kit.

FUJIFILM XF 60mm f/2.4 R Macro Lens

Excelling at close range, the FUJIFILM XF 60mm f/2.4 R Macro is a 91mm-equivalent prime featuring a 1:2 maximum magnification along with a 10.5" minimum focusing distance. A maximum f/2.4 aperture suits working in a variety of lighting conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field. The optical design features one aspherical element and one extra-low dispersion element, which help to reduce both spherical and chromatic aberrations for increased sharpness and clarity. A Super EBC coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting when working in bright and backlit conditions.

Portrait-length prime lens is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 91mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/2.4 maximum aperture balances a compact design with lens speed for working in difficult lighting conditions and controlling depth of field.
Ideal for macro shooting, this lens offers half of life-size 1:2 maximum magnification along with a minimum focusing distance of 10.5" to suit working with close-up subjects.
One aspherical element limits distortion and spherical aberration in order to realize greater sharpness and accurate rendering.
One extra-low dispersion element greatly reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater clarity and color accuracy.
Super EBC coating has been applied to individual elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

FUJIFILM XF 60mm f/2.4 R Macro Reviews

Brilliant Lens - Superb Quality Optic

This is pretty much the only fast(ish) Fuji prime that I don't have, and as a biologist who loves macro photography, it was always something I was going to buy, but simply never got round to. Well, it takes razor sharp pics, is brilliant at close-ups (not true macro, but good enough). Is great for landscapes and portraits. Reviewers are critical of it's focus speed. I don't know what they expect - let me tell you, on my old X-T1 it focuses plenty fast enough and nails focus virtually every time with 100% accuracy. It is easy to use TTL flash with and is ultra sharp from f2.4 through to the smaller apertures. This is a gem of a lens....I have the Canon 180mm macro and 100mm macro, and have used these extensively. This small ultra light lens is so much easier and far more fun to use. It takes seriously good images.......just buy it, it's exceptional value for money.

Sharp and light weight. Perfect for street photography.

I bought my first Fuji camera for the purpose of having something to take on walks and keep with me at most times. Starting out, I could only afford one lens and wanted one that didn't weigh too much and could produce beautiful images, including macros. This lens has more than met my expectations. Paired with the X-T4, it will fit in a small bag and weighs under 2lbs. I have been very impressed with the image quality. It produces tack sharp images with pleasing backgrounds. The bokeh is not as lovely as what my Nikon would produce, but then the Nikon is so heavy that it tends to sit abandoned at home. The lens will sometimes hunt a bit in low light, but it's never been so stubborn finding focus that it became a deal breaker. Then again, I'm patient. Here is a sample shot. It has had no post processing at all. I have only resized (without sharpening) to make it more web friendly. I highly recommend this lens.

A digital macro lens with classical film camera type aperture and focus controls that produces high quality images. It is solidly built on a metal body.

This lens is great for close macro shots - photos are clear and the lens is a pleasure to use as well. I have been trying it out for the past few days on things around the neighborhood and backyard and the results are stunning!

A Great Bargain

I got the 60mm after trying the 80 mm. The 60 is everything that the 80 isn't. Light, quick focusing, quiet, and very handy for general use. It is sharp and everything I hoped for.

This lens is very sharp and focuses fine in normal light or brighter. It does focus slowly she doing macro but I am ok with the trade off given the price and weight.

Love it!

I was hesitant to buy this lens, because of slow auto-focus and motor noise. Glad I bought this one. Here are my thoughts on this lens: - Auto-focus is very good with x-t4 in reasonable lighting condition and subject is not too close. Anyways, I am not using this in low light - Motor noise is acceptable, it did not bother me as I thought - I think macro capability this lens provide, is good enough for 95% of the people, considering the size, weight and price of 80mm lens. - Needs little bit of practice and understanding on how this lens perform, then you can take photos with awesome sharpness - Macro: When you try to fill the picture with subject (ie. too close) need to set it to f8 and above to get good sharpness. Make sure you focus on right point. If subject is slightly far (ie. not filling the picture) sharpness is awesome from f4 onwards - Portrait: Another benefit of this lens (2-in-1). Again when you fill the picture with head shot, use f2.8/4 or above. I have 90mm f2 lens, did lot of comparison with this lens. To my surprise I like the sharpness and rendering of pictures from 60mm f2.4 rather than 90mm f2. 90mm f2 shines at f2, but from f2.8 onwards I like the 60mm better. Of course, 90mm beats this in auto-focus speed, silence and WR feature. I just compared the picture quality. - like the size and weight of 60mm, when compared to 90mm f2 - Since this lens is old with slow auto-focus (only in lowlight and very close focus), noise and not WR, it may not worth $650. Better to buy decent quality used ones for 400 or less.

Can this lens be used to digitize film negatives with a Nikon ES-1 or similar? Or what lens do you recommend to do that task with my Fuji X-T3?
Asked by: Nicolas
Unfortunately no. The crop frame sensor of the Fuji camera would not allow you to capture the full image from a 35mm slide or negative. A film scanner such as the Epson V600 would be a better option: https://bhpho.to/3qBOufU

Which extension tube is recommended with this? To go to 1:1?
Asked by: Henry
The 16 mm extension tube will get you to 0.76 magnification and the 11 mm would get you to 0.68. Why not try the 16 mm and 11 stacked together? https://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/accessories/pdf/mcex_01.pdf

question

Does this lens have an aperature ring. Can you shoot at f 16 or f22 with this lens or is it just f2.4?
Asked by: Harriet
Yes it has a fully useble aperture ring. 2.4 is just the max f-stop. And it will go to 22. There is also an A position on the aperture ring to have camera set f-stop for you.
