Compact enough to fit into a small carry bag or even your coat pocket; the Syrp Genie Mini II is a portable and easy-to-use device for creating smooth panning motion time-lapses or real-time video. The Genie Mini II expands on its predecessor's features with the addition of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 support, longer video recording battery life, a faster USB Type-C connection, and 360/VR panorama support.

The Genie Mini II is designed to sit between your camera and tripod and has an internal motor that enables 360° panning motion with cameras weighing up to 8.8 pounds. Control and setup is done wirelessly using a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection and Syrp's Genie 2 App for iOS and Android devices. To accommodate experienced and beginning time-lapse shooters, the Genie 2 app provides a useful set of presets, so you can start shooting right away. Advanced users will appreciate the faster Bluetooth 4.2 connection to take advantage of more complex, custom motion control settings and multi-row panoramas to create 360/VR images.

A lithium-ion battery provides approximately 15 hours of time-lapse and six hours of smooth, continuous video panning on a single charge. A USB Type-C cable is included for recharging the battery.

Note:
An optional Link Cable is required for connecting your camera to the Genie Mini for time-lapse recording.

Syrp Genie Mini II Reviews

Works great but build quality is hit n miss took two returns

The item works well, has good battery, and good functionality. The app is a little buggy at times but works mostly. I had to guy 4 of them to find two that had a properly fitting rubber skin. Two of them were loose and floppy covering up the LEDs and allowing dust in. Really dissapointed in that. $230 piece of equipment I expect more.

Amazing for many reasons

Having a motion control system has always been on my list of accessories to have in the bag. Once I saw the video on this one, I knew I found the one I wanted. Couple it with the accessory turntable and you have a mini product photo display studio. Attach it to a tripod and the camera to the Genie, set the controls in the app to have it do what you want, and the rest is easy. Connect the cable to the camera and set the interval and number and degrees of the turn and click the record button in the app and walk away. I use it for both time lapse and product video display. With my Canon 5DsR I already have time lapse capability, so all I do is use the turn function on the Genie. I set it up as a time lapse shot and set the arc of the turn, and the interval of the shots and the number of shots, but don't connect the cable to the camera. In the Canon, I set the time lapse conditions (interval, number of shots and length) and press the record button on the camera and the record button on the Genie app. With the turn table attached, I set a 360 degree turn on the Genie, press record on the camera and start on the turntable and it runs itself. It is smooth and quiet (hint: it gets a little noisier the heavier the load you add to the turn table), but since I'm not recording audio, it doesn't matter. The Genie does provide for a still image turn table set up where you set the number of images from 8 to whatever and the Genie rotates and stops at each degree and the camera fires. You end up with from 8 to whatever number you set of still images, but I really don't know what the use would be. It's a little costly, but well worth the price. Well made and solid. Make sure you order the right connection cable for your camera.

Useful motors for the price.

Bought two of these when on sale, nice and compact size and can be tossed into any kit or bag. Recommend setting up and updating one at a time, which took a while to pair. Motor is fairly loud, fine for timelapse and B-Roll, but not for live shooting.

Nice improvement over Gen.1

I purchased two of these to replace my gen 1 Minis. Syrp did a very nice job improving an already great product. Multirow panoramas, key framing, and the connectivity with the updated app makes the shine. I look forward to trying it out with my Genie One and magic carpet

This little gadget look well built and it does what it says on the tin. The app makes it easy to use and I have had no issues with it. The battery life is the only thing I'd like to see improved. If it cannot be improved, then I'd redesign it to use interchangeable batteries, so that you can buy extra ones to take on the field.

Recomiendo no comprarlo

Product not working, I tried changing for 8 hours but, it's not charging . Then I put it on the charger and connected it to the app on my iPhone, it contented. As soon as I remove it from the charger it shots down. On the app it shows me that the battery is low and will not go up.

Completely useless

Don't buy this. I saw the warnings from other reviews about how it wouldn't work because of the firmware update issues. I assumed that meant it couldn't interface with the app and do advanced stuff but could still do basic stuff but no.. it won't even spin. I bought this a few months ago in prep for a project that I needed a turntable for and now I have to buy something else (I even bought their turntable platform. Grrr) It's literal garbage. Hundreds of dollars going in the trash having never worked. I hate this thing. Don't buy it. You'd be better off paying them to keep it out of your life.

Is this unit and app compatible with iphone 11 pro Max?
Asked by: Andy
I actually purchased one of these units. When it arrived I connected it to my new iPhone 11 Pro Max. It needed a firmware update. No matter how many hoops I jumped through, it might get to 100% on the firmware, but then would show a error when I tried to use it. I finally tried it on my old iPhone 7 Plus and it updated fine. Then I TrueDepth connecting the Genie II to my Canon 6D Mark II. The unit would rotate as it should, but would not fire the camera. It simply wouldn’t work. I tried to contact their customer support and have yet to hear back from them. I sent the unit back for refund. I would still love to have this unit if it would work, and if the company would stand behind it.

I haven’t tried it upside down but it works fine @ 90 degrees with a d750 and 50mm lens w/o issue. My guess is inverted would not be an issue.
