With a single extruder and a built-in self-leveling print bed, you'll be able to print your first 3D model via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or USB. The enclosed print area supports a build volume of 10 x 6 x 6.7". With a 50-300-micron layer resolution, the 3D45 can print using 1.75mm filaments of nylon, ECO-ABS, or PLA. The filament recognition system automatically changes the temperature to match the material. If your 3D print will take a long time, you can monitor and capture time-lapse videos of it using the built-in HD camera. The printer comes with a built-in LCD screen. There is even an active carbon filter that helps reduce exposure to potentially harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Dremel 3D 3D45 Reviews

There is a reason you buy the Dremel 3D45 printer

And the reason is that it works flawlessly out of the box. I previously bought a Creality machine and got so frustrated with it that I literally took it to the dump and chucked it. On the Dremel I first printed a tiny bit of the froggy then went right to my 88 hour 70% infill print job creating a 4" to 2" reducer for a computer fan for my racing sim. It is not finished yet but so far looks beautiful. This machine is not inexpensive, but quality and build convenience have a price. I had a shipping problem between B&H and FedEx and the first machine arrived beat up. B&H corrected it immediately by shipping out a replacement without question.

Sets up in minutes, has everything you need to get started, and after almost 200 hours of printing I've had zero issues.

Worked straight out of the box. Slicer software works well and it easy to use. While my experience with this 3D printer is limited, I feel confident in giving it a 5 star rating.

Just Right For Me

I know I could've spent less on something comparable but after doing research, many of the cheaper machines seemed to go off the trial by error method of success. Requiring hours of fine-tuning and set-up to get a flawless print was something I did NOT have time for. I wanted to be able to press print and not have to worry about anything else. I didn't want to spend more time tinkering with it than actual printing. I just wanted it to work out of the box the first time because after reading many reviews, it seemed that the most annoying thing about 3d printing is when you're 5 hours into a print and something goes wrong. Not only does that waste a lot of time but it also wastes material. I'm super happy with my purchase for a few reasons. The first being the fact that it does exactly what I expected, producing high-quality prints with no hiccups. At the time of this review, I've printed over 100 prints and have over 75 hours of print time. All have come out fantastic, although I've run into a few times where the print pops off the bed, it wasn't too bad, all I had to do was increase the bed temp. The second reason I decided on this one was due to the fact it was made by a well-establish company that makes a bunch of really reliable tools, some of which I already have owned for several years. It's a company I'm familiar with and I had a good inclination that if I had any issues they wouldn't hesitate to make things right. It was also apparent that many schools incorporated these printers into their classroom where they would encounter a lot of use, I figured if it could handle a classroom it had to be built well. I love the fact that I didn't have to buy any special software too, I know I'm missing out on a few features that you get when you pay but the Dremel print cloud that classrooms use is perfect for me, an added benefit for sure! I love how I can view the print live from my computer to keep an eye on things without having to constantly walk downstairs and it's great to have something so compact and contained, I don't need to worry about it getting all dusty after sitting for a while. It leaves little room for upgrades because it pretty much comes with everything you could need right from the factory. Don't get me wrong, I know you could buy a printer for much cheaper and add to it to make it perform similar or better than this one, but the real value I see is that everything is already done for you and it all intergraded. To be transparent, I've been waiting to write this review for close to a year now as I did have a small issue with my printer which would rarely occur after the print was complete. I contacted Dremel about it and I must say, I couldn't be happier with how I was treated. They ended up sending me a completely new printer and after using it for a few months things are great. My decision to go with Dremel was reassured by this action because I knew they would stand behind their product and that's exactly what they did. If I had any complaints, both clear plastic doors on both the old and new unit had odd surface damage where they meet at the top, almost like a cloudy haze scuff mark, I'm not sure how it happens because they wrap it in protective plastic. It looks like it could be wiped clean but no. Not a big deal though, that and the carbon filter is laughable. I also wish you could change the settings on the fly, like changing print speed while it's printing would be awesome. All in all, 5 stars would totally recommend if you have the money in your budget.

Replaced my old TAZ-6 with the Dremel DigiLab 3D45

Wow, what a difference in printing quality compared to the Lulzbot TAZ-6. It has network connectivity, USB support and an awesome case that makes printing ABS filament a breeze, at a very affordable price. Dremel is still supported, and for this reason, I decided to go with this ultra-reliable printer.

It just works!

In the past I have dabbled with other 3D print systems like the Prusa i3. Unlike my previous systems, the Dremel unit literally just worked right out of the box. Setting up and using this machine was painless. I was able to start a test print cube within 10 minutes. The test cube in my review image was printed in Eco-ABS with a layer height of 0.1 and infill of 25%. So far we have done Eco-ABS and PETG prints and the print quality and accuracy is extremely high. We will be doing some PLA and Nylon tests soon. One of my favorite features of the Dremel 3D45. is the auto-level testing. The auto-level function is fast and makes bed leveling pain free. Veteran 3D printer users may want to use CURA software etc. to directly manage and configure prints, but new / casual users will find that the Dremel web based CURA tools are easy to use and deliver extremely high quality prints. All of the images in this review are of prints done using the Dremel web version of CURA. All layout, settings and slicing were done using this web version. The Test Mini in the images tests for overhangs, stringing, dimension accuracy, etc. on a print done with no supports. The prints were clean up to 40 degrees. From there the stringing started but did not get bad until about 60 degrees of angle. At high angles the upper surface is clean while the bottom surface starts getting bumpy from the stringing / lack of supports. All of the stringing you see in those two images were from the steeper angels at the top of the print. This print was done with 0.1 layer height and 100% infill. (The dark spots in that print are from some black ABS residue that I had gotten on the print head when changing filaments. This later melted into the print. This was due to me not the printer itself.) The final image is of two of the large parts from a Jinx Bomb from the show Arcane. This image shows a rough cleanup with the supports removed but no finish work done on the prints. (You can still see the nodules where the supports attached). The surface quality and detail are extremely good. This print was done in PETG with a 0.2 layer height and 30% infill. I have only had this printer for 2 weeks but I am highly confident in this machines abilities and I am very happy with this purchase. As an aside, my first unit arrived in a box that the carrier had clearly abused. When I set it up I found that the print bed platform (Z axis) had been bent up about 1/4 inch. The net result of this was that the bed could not be leveled even at maximum adjustments. Dremel support (Yes... Professional support for a 3d printer) was amazing and extremely responsive. After some troubleshooting, I was advised to return it for a replacement from the vendor, in this case B&H. This experience, while not ideal right out of the gate, gives me a lot of confidence in Dremel as a company that professionally supports their products. B&H of course provided hassle free replacement of the original unit and I had a new unit in under a week. This is why you buy from B&H! As I spend more time with this unit I will update this review with any other feedback I may have (if the site allows for that). I definitely recommend this printer.
