A portrait-length prime with vintage style, the silver Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f/1.5 Aspherical is a fast, compact M-mount lens characterized by its classic rendering. Its bright f/1.5 maximum aperture suits working in low-light conditions and also enables greater control over depth of field for isolating subjects using selective focus. The optical design includes three anomalous partial dispersion elements and one aspherical element, which help to deliver high color accuracy and sharpness by suppressing a variety of aberrations. Additionally, its manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 2.3' away, and the 12-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f/1.5 Aspherical Reviews
Beautiful and light
In several weeks' use I am very pleased. Very light for the performance and build quality is excellent. At f/1.5 (Canon says f/1.6) the center is quite sharp, and the corners are passably sharp, if dark due to significant vignetting. I have found myself shooting mostly at f/1.5 just for the dreamy feel. By f/2.8 the image is very sharp and bright everywhere, though less fun. Manually focusing is not fast, but not difficult, again even at f/1.5. The aperture ring detents can be deselected, though the motion of doing so is not intuitive (pull the outermost ring with knurls towards the camera, then rotate 180deg).
Another Hit
This is my second Voigtlander RF lens and I keep coming back to them because of how fun they are to use. The electronic contacts are a complete game-changer and unique in the native MF lens roster. I really enjoy this focal length for portrait/product work, and the lens' character wide open makes the subjects pop that much more. It also offers a more clinical/accurate look as soon as it's past f/2.8.
