Powerful enough to observe distant objects but not so powerful that hand shake spoils the view, the 8x42 Crossfire HD Binoculars from Vortex are a solid choice for an all-around optic. Their generous objective lens admits lots of light for a bright image, and the 6' close-focus distance is ideal for watching nearby birds, animals or insects. They come with a Vortex GlassPak harness for comfortable use during hours of observation.

The Crossfire HD delivers views with minimal chromatic aberration, exceptional color fidelity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and optimal light transmission through the use of high definition glass, an index-matched lens configuration, XR Plus anti-reflective coating, and phase-correcting roof prisms. The housing is nitrogen-filled for fog and waterproof performance, and rubber armored for a non-slip grip. The short bridge provides plenty of space for your hands, and the large focusing knob is easy to use, even while wearing gloves. Twist-down eyecups accommodate users who wear glasses. For hands-free use and the steadiest view, the Crossfire HD can be mounted on a tripod using the separately sold tripod adapter.

I was looking for a pair of binoculars to use while on at tour to Yellowstone. I don't use binoculars very often, so wanted something that I could manage easily but see well with. These arrived and I was able to assemble them into the harness, the first test. The harness fit me perfectly and allowed me to wear the binoculars with no stress on my neck, and to grab them quickly when wildlife was spotted by the group. I was even stopped by a stranger during the tour who thought I was a guide because the binoculars in the harness looked so professional. I was very happy with my ability to adjust the binoculars to my eyes, and focus them. I highly recommend the Vortex 8 x 42 Crossfire!

Great for Beginning Birder!

I went to B&H to get a different brand after trying them on an outing with a friend and doing a lot of research. My B&H advisor showed me these Vortex ones instead which were on my list and were brighter (though at the same price point). I've been very happy with them so far. Perfect for a beginning Birder. these feel great in my hands, are bright, with great field of view, and easy focus. A great purchase and as usual great experience at B&H.

All round good service and value for money arrived early wel

These binoculars provide a crisp, clear image with no refraction. That is no colored fringes near the outer edges. The aperture is large enough that there is plenty of light gathering ability. Focusing is easy and natural, with the dial centrally located.
