Vortex Crossfire HD 8x42 Overview

Powerful enough to observe distant objects but not so powerful that hand shake spoils the view, the 8x42 Crossfire HD Binoculars from Vortex are a solid choice for an all-around optic. The Crossfire HD delivers views with minimal chromatic aberration, exceptional color fidelity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and optimal light transmission through the use of high definition glass, an index-matched lens configuration, XR Plus anti-reflective coating, and phase-correcting roof prisms. The housing is nitrogen-filled for fog and waterproof performance, and rubber armored for a non-slip grip. The short bridge provides plenty of space for your hands, and the large focusing knob is easy to use, even while wearing gloves. Twist-down eyecups accommodate users who wear glasses. For hands-free use and the steadiest view, the Crossfire HD can be mounted on a tripod using the separately sold tripod adapter.

Vortex Crossfire HD 8x42 Reviews

Great for Beginner Birding

I don't know that I'm qualified to write a review on Binoculars, as this is my first pair ever. But so far, the Crossfire 8.42 binoculars have been a fantastic purchase. My use case is primarily casual birding from my back porch. These binoculars feel like they could withstand a bomb blast, very well made, not too heavy, and feel great in the hand. I wear glasses while using them and the image is razor sharp at the center of the field of view. The image gets a little fuzzy (like normal lens distortion stuff) in the periphery, but I don't ever find myself looking much outside on the center. Color seems highly accurate to me, and the image seems pretty 1:1 from what my naked eye is seeing (maybe just a hair darker). These also come with lens caps, a neck strap (that's very comfortable), and a carrying case that both looks great and is well made. I haven't done any hiking with these yet, so I can't say if the carrying case is comfortable to wear. If you're looking for a sold pair of binoculars for beginner birding, or casual observing, I highly recommend these.

Great value for money
