Vortex Crossfire HD 12x50 Overview

Powerful enough for distant observation yet capable of glassing subjects just 6' away, the 12x50 Crossfire HD Binoculars from Vortex are a high-powered optic with a large objective lens that admits ample light for a bright image. They can be mounted on a tripod with a separately sold adapter for the steadiest view or hands-free use. A Vortex GlassPak harness is included for comfortable use during hours of observation.

The Crossfire HD delivers views with minimal chromatic aberration, exceptional color fidelity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and optimal light transmission through the use of high definition glass, an index-matched lens configuration, XR Plus anti-reflective coating, and phase-correcting roof prisms. Birders will appreciate their 6' close-focus distance for observing nearby birds, animals or insects. The housing is nitrogen-filled for fog and waterproof performance, and rubber armored for a non-slip grip. The short bridge provides plenty of space for your hands, and the large focusing knob is easy to use, even while wearing gloves. Twist-down eyecups accommodate users who wear glasses.

Vortex Crossfire HD 12x50 Reviews

Good with lots of accessories

These appear to be quality built. The accessories are plentiful. Two options for neck straps, the carry case. I like that the caps are captive. I bought a pair of Celestron SkyMater 12x60's for looking at birds at the feeders. I was not smart enough to check on the minimum focus distance, and those will not focus on the feeder from my window. These will focus close enough (I checked the specs this time). I notice right away that there is more chromatic aberration with these Vortex. There is more blue fringe than the Celestron's (it has it, but it has to be a more contrasty image for the blue to appear. Neither is perfect if you have a bright object next to a dark object. I think the Vortex is also a little softer in the image quality. Subjective. I don't find this a problem, the Celestron is a little sharper, but not something I'm going to return them for or complain overly about.

Nice Set
