Is it safe to purchase Dektol again? Or is there still something wrong with it?
I purchased Dektol recently, it's still the dark colored one. I've been having problems with it exhausting extremely quick. It will work fine for a couple of hours, but after that the tones on the paper become muddy and brown. The contrast is significantly reduced.

Does 'Dektol - 2019 Version' mean that it's the contaminated stuff?
In my experience yes.
Dektol with manufacturers date of 2020/04/01. Expiration date of 2023-04 was dark brown and stained prints.
Dektol purchased recently, expiration date 2024/11 was the correct color and acted normal in all respects. Dektol is back.

Why is it taking Kodak so long to fix this? Any end in sight?
I just bought some Dektol from Glazers in Seattle and it is back to it's normal color and performance. It is lot #2021/04/13066 and expires 2024/04. I print for two important photo archives so this is very good news for me. Craig

question
Do you have to mix the whole gallon at one time? Should it all be mixed at one time? How long does the developer last mixed up in a gallon jug? When you use it for 1 print developing session, do you throw out the developer that you just used?
Don't know about this particular kodak developer, but when I used other ones, I just use chemical scales, to separate it into the smaller portions and then mix them in water. This way I keep it for longer, as the powder has longer shelf time. I don't print that often, so 1 month for a solution is very little time for Me. I hope this works for this developer too.

question
it says it expired 2 yrs ago, how is that going to affect it???
Unopened developer packets lose potency very slowly. You can simply increase development time slightly to compensate. There will be no change in the final print as long as development times do not exceed 5 minutes. I expect that this product will still fully developed prints in 1.5-2.5 minutes.
