Celestron Nature DX ED 12x50 Overview

By B&H Photo's

To address the particular demands of hunters, birders, and outdoor enthusiasts—especially those who glass across vast distances like the prairies of the American West—Celestron offers the 12x50 Nature DX ED Binoculars. They deliver bright high-contrast images with accurate true-to-life color and crisp clarity even when observing from long distances.

To achieve this optical performance, these binoculars feature antireflection fully multicoated extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass lenses with phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms. The angle of view is generous and despite the powerful magnification, these binoculars can focus as close as 8.2 feet for observing nearby birds, insects, or flowers. Additional features like a long eye relief and wide exit pupils improve viewing comfort while reducing eyestrain, so long glassing sessions are more pleasurable.

The chassis is made of lightweight, durable polycarbonate, and the optical tubes are nitrogen=filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging. For those long days in your blind or in the field, or if you just want to eliminate arm fatigue or hand shake, the Nature DX ED binoculars can be mounted to a tripod using an optional adapter.

Optical Performance
  • High 12x magnification brings distant subjects in for close viewing and identification
  • Large 50mm objective lenses keep views bright in challenging light conditions, such as at dawn and dusk
  • Compact roof prism design provides a slim form factor without compromising performance
  • BAK4 prism glass delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Phase-corrected prism coatings reduce internal interference to improve contrast, clarity, and resolution
  • Extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass lens elements reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations to produce views with true color rendition without fringing, halos, or distortion across the entire field of view
  • Antireflection fully multicoated lenses maximize light transmission for bright and clear images with accurate color rendition
Use and Handling
  • Closed-bridge configuration offers a stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism
  • Large slip-resistant center focus wheel is easy to manipulate in cold or wet conditions, even when wearing gloves
  • ±4 right-eye diopter adjustment enables users to compensate for optical prescription for sharper focusing
  • Wide 56 to 74mm interpupillary adjustment range allows easy use by a wide variety of people
  • Twist-up click-stop eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use to eliminate vibrations and arm fatigue
Construction Details
  • Light and durable polycarbonate chassis
  • Exterior rubber armor with textured palm pads offers impact protection while providing a slip-resistant grip
  • Nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving though extreme temperature and environmental conditions
