Works great to mount a Video Devices Speed Drive on a Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR. Thanks to the SmallRig UniversaI SSD Holder I did not have to buy a new Samsung T5 SSD and can instead reuse the same msata drives for the PIX-E to record BRAW. How cool is that?!

The Wise Advanced 512GB Portable & Cinema USB 3.1 Gen 2 SSD is a bit thinner than the T5 drives, BH #WIPTS512. We do not think it would be a good option.

Can the cable clamp open wide enough to accommodate a full size USB-A connector/cable? The narrower USB-C is pictured.
Asked by: Andrew
The SmallRig Universal Holder for External SSDs cable clamp is for USB-C connectors and most drives that you would and should be working with are SSD models that would normally offer a USB-C port. Unfortunately Smallrig does not supply info about the clamp size or spacing.

Yes it can. Although, it is not recommended to connect a metal shoe to a hot shoe on the camera, it could damage the pins in the hot shoe.
