The Canon EU-V2 Expansion Unit 2 mounts onto your C500 Mark II camera and provides a V-mount battery mount for power as well as ports that expand the capabilities of your camera. The expansion unit adds five ports: Genlock/Sync Out, Remote B (RS-422), Ethernet, DC Out (24V, 2A), and a lens control port. This unit expands your C500 Mark II for work as a full-sized production camera, adding two 3-pin XLR connectors for audio input. The V-mount battery plate incorporates a D-Tap output for powering accessories.

Is there an alternative to this for V-Mount batteries with ports? E.g. to use the hawkwoods mini v-lok batteries? hot-swapable?

Not that we are aware of. This product has only been announced as available for V-Mount Batteries.

Can this accept imicro V mount batteries? Does it cover the Monitor & sdi ports on the body of the C300mkiii?
The Canon EU-V2 Expansion Unit 2 would work with Micro V-mount batteries. The batteries you attach would not cover, or prevent use of the Expansion units ports.
