They feature two stereo RCA inputs, allowing you to have two source devices connected for easy switching. The speakers have a 2-way design with a built-in amplifier. Each speaker sports a 0.51" silk tweeter and a 4.17" woofer.

Designed for Enhanced Bass

The R1280T powered bookshelf speakers feature a 4.17" woofer and a flared bass reflex port to help deliver robust, rich bass.

Control Options

Personalize your listening experience with bass, treble, and volume dials on the active speaker. Micro adjustments of treble and bass from -6 to +6 dB can be made with the onboard controls, and digital volume is automatically set every time the speakers are powered on. A remote control is also included, allowing you to mute the speakers, adjust the volume, or power them on or off.

You can connect two sources simultaneously with the dual RCA inputs.

Simultaneous inputs is rare but works great on these speakers. You can program an Apple TV remote or other universal remote with the volume up/down/mute buttons, so you don't need to use the included remote.

I've had the 1280T speakers for about a week now and I love them. Before I received them, I was a little concerned that they wouldn't be punchy enough after having a 2.1 setup for the last 12 years. I can now say they are more than adequate and sound phenomenal. You'll have a hard time finding better speakers for the price.

Great Entry-Level Bookshelf Speakers

I finally decided to upgrade my stereo setup and wanted to purchase a pair of speakers that wouldn't break the band. I've had my eyes on the Edifier R1280T for a while and decided to fully commit. I ordered them from B&H and picked up from the store an hour later. Installation was very easy as all the cables are provided and simple to set up. I love the crisp sound of these speakers and the built-in subwoofers provide plenty of bass. The bass/treble controls on the side make for easy equalizing, and the remote control allows for adjustments that don't require getting out of your chair. The on/off switch is located on the back of one of the speakers which is a little inconvenient but I've now memorized its location and I can access it with ease. Overall I'm very happy with these speakers and would definitely recommend for anyone interested in acquiring competent speakers that won't stretch your budget.

You can't hook it to a receiver because it has an amp as one of it's functions. You can hook up a tuner to it, or another source component such as a CD player.
