Manfrotto 635 Fast Overview

The Manfrotto 635 FAST Single Leg Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs have a 75mm bowl base and load capacity of just over 44 pounds. This tripod has a maximum height of just over 61", and with the legs spread wide a minimum operating height of 11". The three leg sections feature synchronized twist-lock leg locks, which provide for faster leg adjustments of the leg height. The bowl base has three mounting fittings compatible with both the ARRI anti-twist and Manfrotto anti-rotation systems for mounting accessories.

The legs move independently of each other and have independent height adjustments, which is useful on uneven terrain and in odd-shaped or tight spaces. The legs have integrated locking angles of 23, 50, and 70°, so you don't need to use a spreader to have a stable platform, though optional ground and mid-level spreaders are available. The legs feature integrated spiked feet, and rubber boots are included for working on delicate surfaces. The legs collapse down to about 29" in length for storage and transport, and they weigh in at under 8 pounds.

Synchronized Twist-Lock Leg Locks
You can adjust the leg height using a single twist lock on each leg; this makes it faster to set up and break down
Independent leg height and angle adjustment make these legs well suited for working on uneven terrains such as rocky ground or stairs as well as in tight or odd-shaped spaces
The spiked feet provide grip when working on soft ground, while the included rubber boots provide grip when working on hard surfaces and protect delicate surfaces from the spiked feet
The legs can accept optional mid-level or ground spreaders
Bowl Adapter Ring
An optional bowl adapter ring offers the user the ability to work with 60mm half ball heads

Manfrotto 635 Fast Reviews

Three tripods legs out of the box defective!

I have been very satisfied with all the Manfrotto products I have owned. However, I was shocked at the experience I had receiving my order and the one leg would not deploy and the other two legs would not lock properly. I returned and received new tripod legs two more times With the exact same defect. It is almost impossible to contact Monfrotto about my problem, hence, I am looking at other brands.

Great tripod with one downside

I love everything about this tripod minus two things. One isn't a design flaw as it was clearly marked to be this way, but after using it it felt silly it was made that way. I wish it was a 100mm half ball. For the weight it can support (44 pounds), it could hold some massive equipment. One major reason is because the 645 is a 100mm and you could easily have both of these in your arsenal. The true downside to me is that the legs are easy to release. Which I like, but it makes it easy to accidentally turn. If you are trying to twist the legs while holding the tripod, your hands can go in opposite direction while they oppose force. Imagine holding two legs, one in each hand. You are wanting to tighten the one in the right hand. As you turn it, your left hand can slightly turn the other direction and possibly loosen it and the leg extends. When you use it and get a groove, it's less likely to happen, but going between tripods you can find yourself doing this as traditional tripods don't behave the same way. I know that's an operator ordeal, but if you grab the tripod and go, it does make it easy for it to rotate and loosen. The overall design and feel is fantastic. I just wish it a secondary locking option maybe around the top of the twist lock that one could employ if wanted. Even if you twist it while upside down, it can still extend since the legs go both up and down from the twisting section. You can get around this by holding the top of the tripod when twisting. As for the use of the tripod. I love the strength and feel. I also love how quick it is to extend the legs. Only the 645 is faster in my opinion, but still not by much. All in all, it's a phenomenal tripod. A user could quickly get accustomed to its design and never have the legs twist when not wanted. I read another review and they said something similar, but really it's not necessarily a design flaw as much as it is not being something we are all used to since the beginning of tripods.

The Manfrotto 635 FAST Single Leg Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs do not come with a bag or case. Here is a recommended rolling case: the Tenba Rolling Tripod/Grip Case (38", Black), BH # TETGC38.

Comparing this to the satchler flowtech legs, which feels more durable and less prone to slipping?
Asked by: joe
I would say over all the Sachtler Flowtech legs are going to be a bit better at managing slips than the Manfrotto 635 FAST Single Leg Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs, in part due to the ability to add a mid level or a ground spreader.

Asked by: Edelmar
There is not a similar carrying handle for the Manfrotto 635 FAST Single Leg Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs, however, you could use a tripod bag or a strap like the OP/TECH USA Tripod Strap (Black)(BH #OPSTB • MFR #1201012) to make transporting the tripod easier.

Yes, you would be able to mount the Manfrotto MVH500AH Fluid Video Head with Flat Base to the Manfrotto 635 FAST Single Leg Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs. You would need a half-ball; the Manfrotto 520BALLSH 75mm Short Half-Ball (https://bhpho.to/3Gxd4eG) would work well.
