This Lume Cube 2.0 Portable Lighting Kit PLUS includes the Lume Cube 2.0 in black, plus a light stand adapter and additional light modification and control accessories. The Lume Cube 2.0 is a fixture with 5600K color temperature output that is dimmable from 750 lux to 0. The light is suitable for use as either a video light or a still photo strobe. It features an 80° beam angle, and the output has a CRI rating of 95 for excellent color rendition. It incorporates a rechargeable battery that lasts 90 minutes at full brightness.
The Lume Cube is controlled either manually or via Bluetooth using Lume-X, which is available on iOS or Android. The 1/4"-20 female threads allow you to mount the Lume Cube onto a variety of optional camera accessories. A Low Light mode allows you to dim the light down to 1% brightness. The fixture has a rubber plug to cover its ports, which makes it waterproof down to 30' and makes it usable in both dry and wet weather or while fully submerged. The accessories included in the kit are a cold shoe to light stand adapter, additional diffusers, warming gels, and RGBY color gels. Lume Cube LC-V2 Reviews
Really like this light.
Love the light and all the accessories. It's water resistant and am really looking forward to exploring 'lighting an underwater world. Great for small spaces, and am currently using it to explore different lighting effects and putting together a lighting tutorial.
Overrated
It does a good job, but it is a bit clumsy to use. Not well thought out. I had to think twice before deciding to keep it instead of returning it.
Tiny bright light
Sper bright for its size! The ability to control the intensity from our cell phone is a big plus, I highly recommend this light for some quick eng footage, when you're on the go!
Could be better
The light output is fine for close range object photography. Even though it is a lithium ion battery, it has a slow drain when not in use. This unit arrived with a dead battery and the one I previously bought, but had not used for a while also had a dead battery. Charging time for each unit was 3hrs and not 50 to 60 minutes as the instructions state. I am returning this unit mainly for its internal battery drain when not in use and will make due with my other unit whose return period has expired. I have other lithium ion devices that do not show perceptible battery drain.
love my lime cube
this is a perfect addition for my light pain ting photography
Great light, let down by bad mechanical design/manufacturing
The Lume Cube 2 puts out an amazing amount of light, and it can be easily adjusted in 10% brightness increments. I love the small form factor, the 80 degree flood, and of course, all that brightness. However, it is not without problems. The diffuser/filter holder that is supposed to clip onto the front of the light will not go on, even with a lot of force. It is simply too small. It appears to be made for a different light, one that is slightly smaller and has grooves that the ridges on the inside of the holder can snap into. I could live with that, I didn't plan to use the diffuser or colored filters anyway. However, when I tried to attach a quick release plate to the 1/4-20 thread on the bottom, the plate would not thread in. I turned and turned the screw, but the threads never engaged. I tried the second Lume Cube 2 that I bought, and the screw would go in for about 1 turn, then the threads would bind up, long before the plate was secured to the light. Even the cold shoe adapter that comes with the light would not thread in more than 1.5 turns. I looked at the threads on the Lume Cube closely, and they appeared quite crude, as if they were molded into the aluminum, but had never been chased out with a tap to get them to final dimensions. So, unable to attach the Lume Cubes to anything, I returned them for a refund. If it had been just one cube that was defective, I'd have asked for a replacement. But with both having the same two defects, I had no expectation a new one would be any better. I'm currently checking out the alternatives; the Joby Beamo looks interesting.
Amazing portable light.
This kit allows you to control the light. Either to highlight an object or keep some light off an object this kit let's you. Instead of a broad uncontrollable light with this kit you are in control. Worth the money.
Not impressed at all, DOA in less than 12 months
Its not all that bright, the app isn't very good, the battery life is pretty bad and to summarize the whole experience; save your money. The battery self-discharges itself in a matter of weeks, and when it gets too low you have to take it apart and bumps charge it a bit in order for the charging circuit to restart. If you don't know how to do this or have the proper equipment to charge a LIPOLY battery, you have a 1/2 pound paper weight. Not to mention the danger of a design that allows the LIPOLY battery to get that low in the first place.
