With variable leg angles, you can splay the legs out, so the tripod drops to a minimum height of 15.2". Even with the low height, the center column is reversible to get closer to the ground, which is ideal for macro photography. The unique wing-nut design locks the collar to keep the center column at its required height, and the tripod folds to a length of 20.7" to easily transport or store away. The rubber feet retract back to expose the stainless-steel spikes to further stabilize the tripod on icy surfaces or soft terrain.

Well-made and easy to use. I've taken it out into the field many times now and have had no problems. Only way I'd consider not using it is if my gear gets too heavy.
