This is designed to be very lightweight. I would not advise weighting it.
As it is it is, it holds up quite well but if you need to use it in the wind I would suggest a different system.
Personally I wouldn’t use any backdrop in any type of wind. Other than that I can’t see a need to weight it.

If you cannot decide between the 5'x12' vs the 5'x7', is it best to just get the 5'x12'? Can you roll up the bottom if you don't need it?
Yes, I agree that it is best to get the longer one.
And you can roll up from the bottom if it is in the way.

No, all 3 backgrounds in the X-Drop 3 Pack Sweep Background Kit will not fit in the included case. That case is only for the X-Drop stand.

Will this work with the x drop system that came with the 5x12’ drop? I don’t need a longer drop and would prefer to go with 5x7’ for my second drop. The description says this 5x7’ works with the 5x7’ system but looks like the same only no material for a “floor drop”
Yes it will. There is one X-Drop frame (Westcott Part #570X) and both the 5x7 and 5x12 work with that frame.

The Westcott X-Drop Pro Wrinkle-Resistant Sweep Backdrop stand has hooks for the grommets to put it on. If you will do DIY backdrop - you will be able to place it on the stand, but at the moment we do not carry any off brand backdrops with that type of mounting.
