Watson MI-VM Overview

The Watson Pro Micro V-Mount Battery Plate with Clamp supports a single Watson or third-party micro V-mount battery and offers a D-Tap output for connectivity to your camera, light, or other device or accessory. Compatible D-Tap adapter cables are available and sold separately, based on your device. This handy plate features a clamp mount that can be secured to any 19 to 22mm rod, tripod leg, light stand column, or other rail or bar.

Micro V-mount batteries provide a more portable solution than standard-sized ones, and this plate allows you to make use of them across various applications by simply incorporating the appropriate cable required by your device or accessory. Your battery is conveniently released at the push of a quick release button provided on the top corner.

Note:
Third-party micro V-mount batteries larger than 3.9 x 4" (W x H) might limit the functionality of this plate due to size discrepancies.

Light stand, tripod, steadicam...

I love how absolutely tiny and light weight this thing is. I grabbed this as a just in case purchase and have yet to really put it to work on set, but when testing during prep, it works great and I'm sure will prove useful at some point. I bought it for use on my steadicam rig to add extra power without the need to modify anything. I'll likely end up using it as a light stand or tripod battery mount instead.

More ways to attach a Micro V Mount and EVEN standard ones!

First of all, I'd like to remind you that these plates not only accepts Micro V-Mount but ALSO accepts full size V-Mount batteries! it's the same V size. These will go well on anything rod like from 19 to 22 mm. I've tested this on an Amazon Basic stands which I use a lot for loading lighter items since those stands are so light and it will fit on the lower section tube of that stand. So. to me that's perfect. It would be cool if Watson came up with a figure 8 on this unit, divided in 2 sector design so it would accept a wider range of diameters. The screw would be then located at the largest part of that 8 shape, which would take care of both ways you try to place that on. But if you require a larger pole to mount your battery, Watson also makes on just for that. Another HUGE PLUS on this, are the threads and the wingnut. It has that Mathews craft quality. A simple tap on that wingnut will cause the whole thing to unscrew in less than 1/2 second. The quality of those threads is so good, it would fly out if you don't catch it on time. Excellent craftsmanship. You won't be turning that wingnut over and over. It's a simple tap on that wingnut and it's OUT. If you want something that mounts fast and to be able to mount your battery in the weirdest places, this is it!
