Tamron 24mm f/2.8 Di III Reviews
Great Urban Exploration Setup
Purchased this as a fast prime for slipping into a sling pack for around town adventures. Serves that purpose wonderfully. Durability to be determined as this will see a lot of service.
Just right for my needs
I originally purchased a Rokinon 24mm from B&H but found the focusing slow and not terribly accurate. I was advised by the B&H tech advisor that I'd probably find the Tamron more to my liking and it was like night and day. I was so surprised at the difference. In comparison, the only advantage in the Rokinon was the weight. The Tamron is a bit heavier but the macro capability and the sharp images make this a terrific purchase.
super macro 24mm)
very good for its value
Excellent lens
This lens is very sharp wide open with little perceptible fall off in the corners, and it produces images that are beautiful in appearance. I'm planning to buy the 35mm lens in the same series.
Sharp and Extreme Value
I work mostly on landscapes and architecture shoots. Debated the Sony 24mm and the Tamron. No regrets. Have used it on several jobs already and it has performed well. Not the fastest AF, but I don't need it to be.
Amazing Image Quality
I only shoot infrared digital with converted cameras, so it's hard to find lenses that don't exhibit some kind of hotspot. Some are worse than others, and there are none that are hotspot-free. Along came this Tamron, and I'm blown away by the sharpness, contrast, weight and handling of this lens. And it shows no hotspots at any aperture. I'm a fan of this lens series now and will be getting more of them as budget permits. They're excellent lenses and a great value.
Cost and benefit
I've used it twice so far. I recommend this lens for its size and reduced weight. Sharp images, albeit with large barrel distortion that can be corrected in editing. As a result, it was worth the investment.
Sharp and compact
Nice focal length for my sony apsc becomes a general street photography lens. Not too wide at 36mm equivalent.
