The versatile Stackable External Diffuser by Elinchrom fits the front of the Rotalux Octabox, providing a layer of diffusion to the softbox output. The unique stackable feature allows additional layers to be added for increased diffusion. The border frame features touch fastener material to hold the accessory Rotagrid in place.

It is what it is. Pretty much identifal to the external diffuser that came with my softbox except for velcro layer on the outside of the external borders. Please note that the velcro strips are positionned at the same place as the other ones on the inside and they are not covering the entire surface around the diffuser. Someone could very well use their old diffuser and buy one sided velcro strips (loop side) and sew them themselves. If you are lazy like me, you'll prefer buying this instead. As it's stackable, other advantage of having it is that you can put it on the softbox and put your old one on top. It would cut more or less 1 stop of light and help if you need less light that what Elinchrom strobes are able to output at minimum power.
I don't know why Elinchrom doesn't just sell this one - there's no downside to the velcro on the outer edge, and it just is confusing that there are two diffusers that are basically identical but for the velcro.
