The black DV Roller from Shimoda Designs is an extra high-capacity rolling camera case that is designed to accommodate a separately available Shimoda Designs X-Large DV Core Unit or both a separately available Shimoda Designs Large DSLR Core Unit and a separately available Shimoda Designs Small DSLR Core Unit. When the DV Roller rests on its rear panel, the main compartment can be accessed through a doctor's bag-style opening that eliminates any obstruction to the items inside. Along the interior of the main compartment, zippered organizational pockets provide space for miscellaneous accessories. While compatible Core Units help provide crush resistance, this rolling case's overall durability is further complemented by tall wheel housings that protect its corners from impacts with escalators as well as curbs.

is this carry on size?
is this carry on size?
Officially, this bag is too large in two dimensions (height by 1.6" and depth by 2.8"). It will fit in most bins that accommodate the official carry on dimensions. Whether you can get away with it is a different question. My own experience is that it is a crapshoot. If you're flying business class on a US carrier, then likely yes. If you're flying on a non-US carrier, then it really depends. Shimoda's roller bags are very sturday but if you absolutely need to carry on your bag and can't take any chances, then the Shimoda Carry On V2 is the better choice. It is smaller than the official US dimensions to accommodate foreign carriers as well.
