The filter's 4.8 density creates a darkening of an entire image without affecting the image's coloration, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Kase Wolverine Magnetic ND Filter Overview

From Manufacturer

This 16-stop, 77mm Kase Wolverine Magnetic Solid ND Filter with Lens Adapter Ring has a 64,000x filter factor that provides a 16-stop exposure reduction. An included Kase magnetic lens adapter ring allows the filter to be used on a lens with 77mm front filter threads. The filter's 4.8 density creates a darkening of an entire image without affecting the image's coloration, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Mounted within a nonthreaded steel filter ring, the Kase Wolverine Magnetic ND64,000 Solid Neutral Density 4.8 Filter is made specifically to fit within a Kase Magnetic Lens Adapter Ring for Wolverine Magnetic Filters. Each surface of the filter's tempered, shock-resistant optical glass includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coatings to prevent internal ghosting and reflections while further enhancing clarity as well as color fidelity. These coatings also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

The included magnetic lens adapter ring allows a Kase Wolverine magnetic filter to be used on a lens with 77mm front filter threads. It is constructed from steel and allows for the convenient installation or removal of that filter.

This filter is designed specifically for photography applications. This filter is not suitable for direct solar viewing with the naked eye, including with optical viewfinders.

Kase Wolverine Magnetic ND Filter Reviews

Works Well

This works well and is high-quality. While the magnetic filter comes off enough easily, I have to remove the ring attachment if I want to use a different screw-in filter. I was hoping the magnetic attachment would be threaded so that I could use it not only for the magnetic filter, but for screwing other filters onto it. That didn’t work. I’m going to Iceland where the magnetic filter will be fully tested. I hear there’s lots of wind there and that’s an enemy of the filter because it can remove the filter. I’ve been in workshops in Yosemite where there’s not a lot of wind most days, and I could tell who was using a magnetic filter by hearing the clinks as the filter dropped to the sidewalk. I’m considering taping the filter on if there’s a lot of wind and that kind of defeats the purpose of having a magnetic filter in the first place. I’ll be photographing the solar eclipse and that requires a filter that will go on and off quickly.

Best upgrade I’ve ever made. The magnetic filter system is invaluable especially doing long exposure photography. By the way, B&H is the best.

what's the difference between the Skyeye and ...

what's the difference between the Skyeye and Wolverine series from Kase?
Asked by: Andrew
The difference between the Skyeye filters and the Wolverine Magnetic Circular filters are the Skyeye filters have a filter thread on the outside frame, making them compatible with standard screw in filters. The Skyeye also gives you some of the same benefits as the Wolverine filters when it comes to color balance and clarity. The difference lies in the additional coating on the Wolverine Magnetic Circular filters and no filter thread on the outside frame, making them slimmer and lighter. The Wolverine filters have an additional nano coating which makes the filters scratch resistant, waterproof, anti reflective, easy to clean and toughened glass.

Is it possible to remove and mount lens hood while the magnetic adapter is attached to the lens thread ?
Asked by: Mohamed
It will depend on the particular hood that is used with magnetic adapter that is included with the Kase Wolverine Magnetic ND32,000 Solid Neutral Density 4.5 Filter with 82mm Lens Adapter Ring (15-Stop). If the hood is very narrow, the magnetic adapter may get in the way and not allow you to mount it, but wider hoods that flare out, usually will work fine with the magnetic adapter on the lens.
