Great solution for less heavy lights

This product is a fast, easy and effective alternative to a menace arm, book arm or other method for arming a light over/behind talent. You can't put much on the boom which is fine. If you wanted to arm out something heavy, you'd go a step up and build a menace arm. The spigot/spud at the tip can be locked at a 90 angle perpendicular to the boom allowing more options for lights to be rotated, panned, etc..

Good quality and easy to assemble and adjust

I love the quality of the components. It's easy to assemble and adjust. I use diving weights instead of sand in the weight bags and it works perfectly to balance the softbox and light.

Works well with my B10

For the price it meets my expectations on quality and sturdiness. Currently use it with my Profoto B10 with an OCF softbox for indoor studio portraits. I haven't needed to fully extend it - I find the reach without fully extending it to be perfect for my needs and the included weight bag is a nice bonus.

Great arm for a small space, well designed but not perfect

I have a small home studio, and was having problems with boom arms being too long and too heavy for my small space. Discovered this Wescott boom and it is almost perfect. Well designed and just the right size, and appreciate the stud has a flat plane for holding modifier in place. The main weakness that I have found is that the tension knobs that hold the payload from revolving are not quite strong enough. My payload is pretty light, with an extension head and a modest size modifier, but to hold it at the right angle it is really a bit of struggle to tighten the grips that adjust. You have to really hold the modifier in the right place, and with the other hand really tighten up on the knob that holds it. Pretty sure this will not work on a large modifier. In any event that is my main complaint, and to put it in perspective I just ordered a 2nd one, so obviously not a huge deal for my needs, but with this correction it would be a 5 star item.

Exactly what I wanted

I set this up on an Impact light-stand with a counterbalanced Neewer Vision 4 strobe and 72" strip softbox and it performed without issue. I don't think I would want to put more weight on it though. Seems well constructed and the fittings are positive with no obvious slippage even with all that weight. Very pleased.

Unfortunately, this Westcott Mini Boom Arm cannot be completely removed from the pivoting bracket as the back ring that holds the counterweight would prevent this.
