Godox AD1200 Pro Overview

From Manufacturer

Featuring wireless control via the 2.4 GHz wireless X system with a range of up to 328' and 1200Ws of power, the AD1200Pro Battery Powered Flash Kit from Godox is an impressive lighting tool compatible with several TTL systems including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, and Panasonic. It offers up to nine steps of output power in Manual flash mode, ranging from 1/1 to 1/256 of a second.

The AD1200Pro recycles to full power in just two seconds and features a high-speed sync mode that works with shutter speeds up to 1/8000 second with action-stopping flash durations from 1/220 to 1/10,860 seconds. Another unique setting is its Stable Color Temperature mode, which tightly controls color to keep temperature changes within ±75K across the entire power range. Besides these impressive specs, in Stroboscopic Mode it's capable of 100 continuous pops at 1/16 power output. Finally, a 40W LED modeling lamp with three selectable modes draws negligible power and helps previsualize your captured image.

First time using it doesn’t flash. Night before job ...

I’m really disappointed with this new system, especially since I came from Elinchrome, which I had for six years and never had any issues with. The fit and finish are superb, but today was the first time I tried the new system, and unfortunately, there’s no flash. I’ve tried troubleshooting, but nothing seems to work. I’ve attached a video for reference. My Elinchrome never had these problems, so I’m stuck because it’s been over 30 days since I bought this system.

For the most part I really love Godox products, I have several, I give this product 2 stars for the simple fact that both times, I took this out for a payed job, it wouldn't start up. The first time I found it this battery for some dumb design goes into a dormant mode if you don't use it for more than 30 days. And the second time I took it out even after pressing the button and holding it. it would not come out of dormant mode and is completely dead. it won't charge and there is very little information on this light on the internet. Do yourself a favor just buy 2 AD600 pros. Dont buy this unless you are going to be shooting it once a week. if this light sits for to long you may have issues like me and are left with a giant paper weight. Im Very disappointed GODOX shame shame. Seriously Godox you guys need a better battery design with this one.

    Asked by: jai
The AD1200 can be controlled via the GodoxPhoto or GodoxFlash App as long as you have a Godox Bluetooth trigger, either the X2T : B&H # GOX2TN or the XPro II : B&H # GOXPROIIN. Booth have a Bluetooth logo on it.

At this time, Godox has not shared any plans of offering the AD1200 Pro Flash Head on its own.

I just got this unit and it does not fire above 250 using the GodOx Sony triggers. The wireless triggers fire with HSS on my AD600 Pro, AD200, and GodOx speed lights. Does anyone else have issues getting the AD1200 pro to fire with HSS on Sony?

Is this strictly battery powered? Can you run it off of ac power from a home outlet?

This unit is initially battery powered, but you can purchase the Godox AC Adapter for AD1200Pro Battery Powered Flash System, BH # GOAC1200 to make it an AC powered flash unit. https://bhpho.to/3khVknd

If i get a X1 R transmitter to trigger the AD1200 and mount my Canon ST-E3-RT Speedlite Transmitter on top of the X1 R will it work to trigger my 600 EX-RT’s speedlites?
    Asked by: Arthur
Yes this will in fact work in the set up you described. With the Godox transmitter, it will also change the mode (TTL or Manual) on the Canon ST-E3-RT as well. So if you have the Godox set to TTL, it will change the Canon to TTL as well, but for it to sync the same setting to the Canon flash as well, you need to first set the Canon transmitter to the desired mode (TTL or Manual) sync it with the Canon transmitter while it is detached from the Godox transmitter, then mount the Canon transmitter back on top of the Godox and then they will sync up settings properly. A very interesting approach but it will work. A better option I would recommend would be to sell the Canon transmitter and Speedlight that you have, purchase the Godox Pro Transmitter and either a Godox V860II or Godox V1, so that then you have all equipment being controlled by one transmitter which is a better functioning one overall.
