Sleek yet long-reaching, the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR is a 75-375mm-equivalent zoom designed for DX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras. Spanning a versatile range of telephoto focal lengths, this zoom is well-suited for working with distant subjects as well as portraiture applications. Its optical design incorporates one extra-low dispersion element, which greatly helps to reduce a color fringing and chromatic aberrations for greater clarity and color rendering. A Super Integrated Coating has also been applied to minimize ghosting and flare for increased contrast and color accuracy in bright and backlit conditions.

Its reach is also benefitted by Vibration Reduction image stabilization, which minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to 5 stops for sharper handheld shooting. A stepping motor provides quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override to suit both stills and video applications. Also, a programmable control ring can be set for intuitive adjustment over a variety of camera and exposure settings.

Telephoto zoom is designed for DX-format Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 75-375mm equivalent focal length range.
One extra-low dispersion element reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.
Super Integrated Coating suppresses flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.
Stepping motor delivers impressively smooth, quiet, and fast autofocus performance that is well-suited to both stills and video applications. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and an internal focusing design is used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.
Vibration Reduction image stabilization minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to 5 stops for sharper handheld shooting.
Programmable Control Ring is, by default, set to adjust manual focus but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.
Specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field techniques.

I purchased this lens to add to my Z50 II and 16-50mm lightweight mirrorless kit. I didn't expect a plasticky kit lens to perform as well as well as it does, but I was pleasantly surprised. It focuses fast (for an inexpensive lens) and accurately. The VR works great, too. I've had no issues with this lens. Highly recommended!

I performance tested it against the Z400/4.5 Z 200 70-200/ Z135 Plena and the Z105 2.8. This lens held it's own against Nikon's best. Highly recommend it. see it at 200mm vs the z200 70-200 2.8. If photos aren't labeled, and you can't tell which is which, that is you answer.

What is the consensus opinion on using this lens on Z6? Is it possible to go for large print sizes as effective mega pixel count would be around 10? Will large screen online viewing be adversely affected?

Using this lens on a Z6 would not produce large quality prints, as far as large screen viewing, it would be fair.

How would this lens compare with the DX 70-300 P with the FTZ adapter on a Z5?

They are very similar. Both are f /4.5-6.3. So about the same in low light. And both have VR. The big difference between them in the Design. The Z mouth lenses by Nikon are designed and optimized for Nikon Z mount mirrorless cameras. Meaning in general it will be better than the same lens in f mount. The adapter does not take away anything from the optics of the lens.

No, there are no adaptors to convert Nikon mirrorless lenses on the Z-mount series to Nikon DSLR cameras. ALso this lens is a NIkon DX version which is not recomendad on full frame camera bodies. The most similar option compatible with Nikon D850 Nikon AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR Lens BH #NI7030045AFP.

Yes. See my review for a sample picture with this lens on the Z6. The crop makes it a 10MP camera but that is fine for a lot of work.
