B&H has put together this Genaray 2-Light Portrait and Background Kit to offer photographers and videographers light placement options in a core kit. The kit includes two 50" SSL-50 Soft Strip LED Lights with built-in 2-way barndoors, each with a heavy-duty, air-cushioned light stand. An 86" steel boom arm is included to employ one of the lights as a side light, a background light, or overhead as a hair light.
Offering a soft wraparound quality thanks to its long, narrow form factor and 400 bright LEDs, the 50" long Soft Strip LED Light from Genaray is a versatile fixture with features that are easy to use in the studio or on location. The light has color temperature that's a solid, daylight-balanced 5600K, with a high CRI/TLCI rating of 96/98.3, an indicator of precise color rendering. The SSL-50 features an all-digital dimmer for single-digit adjustment control throughout the dimming range from 100% all the way down to 1%. Other dimmers without this functionality can exhibit abrupt falloff below 10%, greatly limiting their dynamic range.
The SSL-50 runs barely warm to the touch, allowing you to work close to the subject without causing discomfort or hot light hazards. The power-saving light produces an output of 1693.6 lux at 3' while consuming just 80W of power, helping you keep the temperature of your set and your operational costs down.
The long strip fixture can be used vertically or horizontally for dramatic results. In vertical orientation, the SSL-50 is ideal for use as a sidelight or for dramatic lighting. It also creates long, elegant reflections when shooting products. In horizontal mode, the light has a wraparound quality with appealing falloff at the top and bottom of the frame. Another use is overhead as a hair light.
The SSL-50 has a beam angle coverage of 75 degrees, which can be modified and controlled by its two-way barndoors. The fixture comes with a multi-voltage adapter that makes it ready for world use, but it can also run on optional V-Mount batteries when AC power is unavailable. A hard carrying case is included to store and transport the light.
Designed for overhead lighting, this chrome-plated steel Boom Arm from Impact telescopes from 46 - 86" and supports up to 8 lb at maximum extension. Features include a ratcheting pivot clamp handle and rubber-coated section above its counterweight hook for comfortable, secure height adjustment. The boom has a 5/8" receiver and is an ideal match for heavy duty wheeled stands like Impact's LSP-SW10 9.5' Steel Roller.
This Impact Heavy-Duty Air-Cushioned Light Stand is a black anodized aluminum support that rises to a height of 9.5' and folds down to 42" for storage and transport. The stand will handle up to 22 lb and is topped with a removable 5/8" spigot with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads. It has a wide footprint of 52" for greater stability. Air cushioning gently lowers the light when making height adjustments to protect equipment and fingers.
