What is the default video screen mode set to (4:1 multiview, 2:1.etc...)? If power cycled, does it keep the last setting?
The Ocean Matrix HDMI 4 x 1 1080p Multiviewer with PIP & IR Control will default to HDMI input 1 upon boot, and it does not retain multiview after a power cycle.

Can this do a split of just two HDMI inputs 50/50 rather than a quad split?
Yes, it has the ability to show a 50/50 split of 2 inputs. On the manufacturer website they show that the 50/50 splits are either with inputs 1 and 2 or with inputs 3 and 4.

Is there resolution limit to the video input? ...
Is there resolution limit to the video input? Could I send a couple of 6k video feeds to the multiviewer and send out a 1080p feed?
The following unit will only support the following resolutions and audio format
Video Resolution: 50Hz 576i; 576P; 720P; 1080i; 1080P 60Hz / 59.94Hz 480i; 480P; 720P; 1080P; 30/29.97/24/25Hz 1080P
Audio Format: PCM 2.0
