GyroVu GV-USB Overview

The USB to Sony NP-FW50 Dummy Battery Intelligent Cable from GyroVu allows the use a USB power source to power devices that use a Sony NP-FW50 battery, providing continuous camera operation in applications where stopping to change batteries is not suitable. This dummy battery fits into the camera's existing battery socket and features a 40" USB power lead, and the built-in emulator chip delivers battery status data to the camera.

Proper operation of this adapter requires a USB power source with a minimum 5V / 2A output, however 5V / 3A is recommended.

    Purchased this for a Sony a7II, which it is made for. This ws paired with a GyroVu Power Bank, fully charged.Tthe camera works for a few minutes and shuts of with a screen message of no pwer available. Have submitted message to GyroVu for refund.

    Put this into my RX10iv for an all-night timelapse, which is beyond the capability of the single battery. Worked fine for 12 hours with lots of charge left in the USB power pack. RX10iv can run on USB power directly, but the only USB port has to be used for the interval timer, so the dummy battery is necessary. The RX100vii has a built-in interval timer, but that wasn't included on the RX10iv.
