GyroVu GV-USB Reviews

Usually works, but not always.

This usually powers up the Canon 60D or 6D for all night timelapses but on the 6D there is an occasional glitch. Sometimes the camera powers up, but then an error message comes up in the viewfinder and the camera freezes. Have to remove the dummy battery, put in the real battery, and then try it all over again, and then it usually works.

Doesn't Work - DON'T BUY

I bought this Dummy Battery for my Canon 90D to use when I connect my camera to the computer for streaming or for video calls. I tried to plug it into my computer to power it which didn't work. The paperwork then said to plug it into a wall adapter that gives out 2 amps of power. I tried a couple of my old phone chargers, both of which didn't work. I even purchased a new power brick specifically made to generate 2 amps and it still doesn't work. Looks like I'm going to buy the Canon made one to see if that one will work.

Works perfectly...if you pay attention to power input

This cable provides long duration power to my Canon DSLR, which I now use for streaming. Works perfectly BUT...you must ensure your power source feeds it the minimum 2 amps required by this cable! Another reviewer complained it didn't work with, among other things, an iPhone charger. Right, because iPhone chargers supply less than 2A. Any USB-A port I tried under 2A does not work. What works for me is a 2A iPad USB AC adapter, and my Anker power bank also puts out 2A and works with this cable. That 2A power requirement is critical; don't ignore it.

I've tried this with an Anker USB power adapter, an iPhone charger, and my Mac Pro. I can't get it to power my EOS R on.

I bought this dummy battery for my Canon %D Mark IV. I shoot a lot of timelapses and was stuck with short ones due to battery exhaustion. This dummy batter is a game changer! I bought the required type of power bank and I did a 7 hour timelapse with zero problems. Now the camera does ask a few questions for a work around before it will work, but other than that, it's a gem! I ordered another one for my 6D Mark II so I can shoot time lapses at a time.

I purchased this item to power my Canon 7D for astrophotography. For power I use a Jackery Battery with two USB-A ports (5V, 2.4A). When installed the camera, when using one of the USB ports on the Jackery, will not even turn on. I then tried for more power by plugging in my AISAIR PLUS. It draws 12 volts from the Jackery which provides even more amperage to its USB ports. When I plugged the camera into this port the camera does turn on but when trying to save an image to the memory card the camera recycles and does not save the image. I do have an open usb 3 port on the ASIAIR but I am not sure of the compatibility with connectors and power output.

This model with work with any power bank. But depending on the device you will be powering with LP-E6 it might require certain power output. Low current output power banks will not have enough current to power some cameras or monitors. We recommend to use power bank which will have at least 2A output.Similar to our GyroVu model #GV-PB-301. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1551207-REG/gyrovu_gv_pb_301_high_power_30_000_mah.html

Although this product is mainly used with a USB to AC plug adapter when connected to an AC outlet, the manufacturer recommends the GyroVu High Capacity 30,000mAh Power Bank, BH# GYGVPB301. https://bhpho.to/3pOgFJV
