The Sound Devices MX-HIROSE is a Hirose DC input sled designed to help power compatible Sound Designer recorders. This can aid in powering units in the original MixPre series, the MixPre-M series, and the MixPre-II series.
With most compatible recorders, releasing the MX-HIROSE is as easy as pressing the release tab. However, on the MixPre-10 II, a flat head screwdriver will be necessary. Set your MixPre's power source internally to the NiMH option before use. When connecting the MX-HIROSE to the original MixPre units, Sound Devices recommends making use of a right-angled Hirose connection.

Secure power connection from the back. With a D-Tap battery power for hours. Free up the USB-C port for better access to the switches and connections on the side.

I'm surprised that Sound Devices made such a horrible product. Lacks quality control for sure. This could be great with minor tweaks, but mine was dead on arrival and was extremely loose

Hi Mikala. One simply needs to pull it away from the back of the unit at the right side of the mixer, near the letter "M" of "MixPre" printed on the top rear panel of the chassis.
