RODE VideoMicro Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone

Switch from using the built-in mic on your camera or portable recorder to the Rode VideoMicro ultracompact camera-mount shotgun microphone for improved sound quality and wind noise reduction without adding heft to your rig. Since it runs on plug-in power and has no controls or switches, the VideoMicro is a simple and reliable microphone ideal for mobile journalists, vloggers, and run-and-gun shooters.

This ultracompact and ultralightweight shotgun microphone features a detachable shockmount that mounts directly to your DSLR, mirrorless, or video camera and reduces noise from vibrations and camera handling. The supplied furry windshield minimizes wind noise, making it well suited for outdoor shoots. The detachable coiled 3.5mm TRS cable ensures easy hookup to your camera, and the dual-mono output means that no channel selection is necessary on your recording device.

Durable and Small
At just 3" long and 1.5 ounces light, the VideoMicro is an unobtrusive companion for your camera. Its ceramic coating mitigates glare and its durable aluminum body aids in RF rejection.
Shotgun Mic with Directional Sound Pickup
Whereas most built-in camera microphones pick up sound from all directions, this microphone utilizes a cardioid polar pattern to focus on sound in front of it while attenuating sound entering from the rear. Its active electronics and directional condenser element deliver more detailed audio than the mics typically found in cameras and portable recorders.
Easy Hookup to Camera
A detachable coiled 3.5mm cable is supplied for fast hookup to your camera. The cable is wired in a dual-mono configuration, ensuring that the mic signal is sent identically to both input channels of your camera or portable recorder.
Runs on Plug-In Power
No batteries are required to operate the VideoMicro. Just connect the microphone to your camera or recorder, enable plug-in power on the device, and forget about swapping or charging batteries.
Detachable Shockmount Inhibits Vibrations
Understanding that the rubber bands used in many shockmounts can snap and stretch, Rode chose to utilize a rugged Rycote Lyre suspension-style shockmount. This simplifies setup of the mic and inhibits the transfer of vibrations from the camera. Plus, the bottom of the shockmount features a camera shoe mount with a 3/8" thread, ensuring easy attachment to your camera or a boompole such as Rode's Micro Boompole (available separately).
Furry Windshield Minimizes Wind Noise
The VideoMicro includes a furry windshield to minimize unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners.
Connectivity Options
Expand the microphone's device compatibility with Rode accessories such as the SC4, SC7, and VXLR+ (all available separately). With either the SC4 or SC7, you can connect the VideoMicro directly to a smartphone or tablet equipped with a 3.5mm TRRS jack. The VXLR+ adapter is the ideal solution when you want to record the VideoMicro to a camcorder or mixer that has XLR inputs.

Nikon Z50 Reviews

Fantastic mirror camera and lenses for beginners

Love this camera so far. I am a beginner, but the camera is intuitive and very well designed. I especially like switching between the kit lens and 50-250 mm lenses and learning the difference between the two. The B&H staff were instrumental in helping me navigate through the process. Highly recommend.

My First New Camera in Decades

I'm recently retired, getting back into photography after many years, and the Nikon Z50 seems to be everything I will need for a long while. The learning curve is a little steep, but pretty clear, and mostly intuitive. I love the size and weight, and I will look forward to having more lenses available in the future. So far, it has been a joy to use... and just fun!

Should have bought sooner!!!

I finally bought a mirrorless Nikon camera after years of hesitation. I bought the Z50 because of the extensive amount of Nikon lenses I already owned. I purchased the FTZII adaptor at the same time. My main camera for land/sports photography is my D500. My underwater camera is a D7100. The Z50 is a marvelous little camera. It does everything a camera of its caliber is supposed to do and much more. I have yet to find any issues with using the adaptor and any of my Nikon and Sigma lenses. I you are DX format camera owner and have considered buying this camera, do it, you won't be unhappy. I only bought the body because I already own similar lenses that the similar Z Lenses didn't add any advantage for.

I love the clarity of the mirrorless camera. Sharp and clear. So many programs to choose from but at the same time, very user-friendly.

I had up until this camera, thought I would never leave my heavy d610. I'm so happy with the lightness and sharp photos that I can never turn back. I can see the fine hair from my dog on the floor. LOL Mirrorless is the new me.

My only regret is I did not buy the kit with 2 lenes.

I bought this to replace a DSLR Nikon I have. This camera is much lighter and delivers a much better picture than my 10 year old Nikon DSLR. I love that you can shut off the produced shutter noise and take pictures with total silence. I'm still learning the options. Thank goodness there are many videos on YouTube for the Z50.

The camera has a 1/4 x20 thread that is standard on on tipods and gimbals. The Ball head is removable from the tripod and the the removable adapter on the base allows it to mount on a 1/4 x20 or 3/8th x 16 tripod
