Kinesis X-Harness Overview

The Kinesis H717-J X-Harness is designed to hold a heavy DSLR with an attached lens, like a large f/2.8 zoom, close to the chest without swinging or swaying. A pair of high-density polyethylene staves at the front of the harness and an "x-style" crisscross rear design transfers loads away from the neck and shoulder for increased comfort—especially if you're wearing it all day on a wedding shoot or out on the trail for outdoor photography.

The harness has a smooth-coated 400-Denier nylon exterior for comfort and durability, and wide straps with closed-cell foam padding on critical areas ensure comfort under heavy loads. Though designed to function independently, the X-Harness can be used to provide additional stability to a padded Kinesis belt by attaching it to the harness with an optional suspender adapter.

This kit includes the basic X-Harness, a pair of H436 Harness to Kinesis Camera Straps, and a Kinesis H675 PJ (Photojournalist) Camera Strap. The H675 includes a pair of buckles which permanently attach to your DSLR. This way you can quickly switch back and forth between a regular neck strap or the H675 and X-Harness by simply unclicking two quick release buckles. Also included is a sway-free strap that helps keep a camera or holster from swinging excessively when attached to the harness.

Works well for my camera and large lens. Haven't tried with multiple cameras yet, but it seems to be set up well for that too.

I wanted to love this product and it does help a little on your back but it moves around a lot and is soo hard to put on and adjust. not sutable for heavier set and more meant to be used on petite figures. if you do decide to buy - get the combo so you don't have to wear the harness all the time

Can you shoot photos while camera is holstered? I have difficulty holding my camera, especially with heavy lens on.
Asked by: Maria
You may absolutely shoot while the camera is holstered to the Kinesis H717-J X-harness. Keep in mind, however, that while tethered, the camera will have a limited range of motion.

Would it take much modification, if any, to attach a Think Tank Digital Holster to this harness?
Asked by: Joshua E.
It wouldn't be an easy connection, but if you would like to modify your holster to fit the vest that is outside of my expertise.
