Godox FV200 Reviews

Amazing product!!

Very good quality and it is very useful that you can use it in continuous light mode as well as and as Flash mode. The only negative side (-1 star) is that B&H does not include the remote control in the kit even that in the box says it is included. You can't change the temperature of the light with out the remote. I had to buy it later, I think for $9 dollars it's not significant not to include it as it says in the box/manual originally.

Game changer for race photographers

I shoot marathons, triathlons, 5ks, tough mudders and the like. Some of these events start prior to sunrise. Most race photographers will use a speedlite before sunrise. They will be hampered by slow focusing and slow recycling of any speedlite. With the fv200 I can turn on the model light for quick focus and then flash the led at 10 frames per second with no recycle time. The only con is the unit is bulky with lightstand and power station atttached. But you can shoot 1000s of images while others shooting with speedlites will be likely to manage maybe a couple hundred images.

Too noisy for commercial/corporate film and video.

I was originally very excited about this unit as I do both photo and video. There were not that many reviews or sample videos online about it. I was more aiming for the Aputure 120d Mk II, but this was 300$ less. I got it, and set it up, and then promptly re-packed it and got it ready to send back the very next day. I do video interviews, small commercials, and some film work, and the fan on this is WAY TOO LOUD for voice. I work with sound recording professionals, and NO WAY would they allow this light to be used. No way to turn the fan off either, and probably gets even louder the hotter it gets. Also iffy as a flash. Didn't seem that much brighter, and apparently the modeling light dims after every fire, and no way to turn it off, and no audio beep for full recycle. Also, while it seems sturdy, it's a beast of heaviness as everything is built into the head. If this fell over, it would smash the unit and do Serious bodily injury to someone else. Nice concept, and maybe in version 2.0 they will figure it out. Went for the tried and true Aputure 120d MK 2.
