The kit includes a reversible black/white fabric background V2, an Impact air-cushioned 8' light stand, and an Impact collapsible reflector holder. The background can be quickly and securely positioned on the stand using the spring-loaded reflector holder. The background pops open quickly and easily and then can be collapsed to 1/3 its open size for storage in it's included zippered bag.

It can but not with this stand it needs two points of contact on top to hold it firmly.

The 5 x 7 collapsible background can be collapsed. Take the narrow end of the background push it in to your gut. Grab the sides of the background bend the like a taco cross the sides lift the bottom of the background and you should have 3 circles.

Any lightstand will work and I've also propped it up. I recently purchased from B&H the Impact Collapsible Reflector Holder (Large). It is made to hang this background on a lightstand. Just a note it is heavy duty.

How thick is material? Can the black one be set in front of a window or would light filter through?
The pact Collapsible Background V2 (Black/White, 5 x 7') is not meant for light blocking, however in some cases it could help to flag the light out while it will depend on the strength of the light. It is not 100% light blocking.
