Monitor in a Laptop Costume

Loving it. I bought one about a year ago, been using it a ton at both home and on the road. Bought a second one just recently for symmetry so I could have triple-monitors on the go. I use one of these as a daily driver as a fourth monitor on my desktop. And then take it on the go whenever I need to travel. The picture quality is quite good considering this is a portable screen. Colors are good. Contrast is above average. Bright enough to work in relatively bright environments (minus outdoors, where it isn't quite bright enough). Touchscreen works great (minus some Windows oddities, minus MacOS being anti-touchscreen). The pen it comes with is also pretty good. Right size, right amount of screen contact without hurting it, and magnetized to the back of the screen. The interfaces are great. If your device supports USB-C as a monitor interface (most laptops, and most recent Macs), it discovers it quickly and has been easy to setup across a myriad of devices. Note that if you have a DIY or aftermarket built PC with discrete graphics, it's somewhat unlikely that USB-C will work as a monitor interface. I couldn't get it to work over USB-C on a computer with a 4070, so I assume you need onboard graphics for the passthrough to the USB controller. That said, the mini-HDMI port works fine. I just find it slightly annoying when I have to use it because you need both USB-C and HDMI. Oh well. Menus are easy to navigate, so selecting the input and various monitor settings is straightforward. Above all else, the form factor on this is awesome. It's just a smidge over half an inch thick. Making it a similar profile overall as the average laptop. So you can bring one or two of these with your laptop without much trouble. The built in monitor kick-out works great in the landscape position, letting you adjust the angle to your liking. That said, it isn't perfect. It has a couple annoyances, which I feel could be easily solved in a future version of this. But I think none of these really are worthy of removing a star. First, all the ports are on one side, parallel to the monitor. It means you can't get everything on your desk clean looking. And I feel like I'm going to eventually break a port because all it would take is moving something in just the wrong way to bend the port perpendicular to the monitor. This isn't a big deal, but it's annoying. Second, the monitor stand deceptively seems like it should be able to let you put the monitor in a portrait stance. The end of the kick stand is angled in a way that would make it seem like it was intended to do that. But so far as I can tell... it's not. The shape of that end of the monitor means it wobbles on a perfectly flat surface, and isn't at all stable enough. Maybe in a future version they can figure out how to make that work better... because if they could, this would be awesome for reading/showing documents. I think when they were prototyping it, they must have thought to make the stand able to do portrait, but it didn't work great, and didn't want to do another round of prototyping to figure it out. I can't entirely blame them, and they don't advertise it as being for use in portrait mode. But annoying nonetheless. Overall this is great. It's a bit on the expensive side, but based on my usage of the first one so far... might be worth it. Seems pretty durable. Quality is good. Seems to universally work. Form factor is fantastic. This niche is a particularly underserved arena, so hopefully more companies move into this space in the future.

Great touch monitor for Mac Mini

Purchased this monitor to use with my Mac Mini and I am very happy. Its perfect size for what I need, brightness and contrast is great for the price. Build quality as well. I like the kick stand and the magnetic dust cover, nice little touches. Multi-touch worked right out of the box on my Windows 10 laptop. I did have to install additional software to get the multi-touch functions to work on Mac, but it was painless and I have full functionality as if it were an iPad controlling my PC. I would recommend buying a longer Thinderbolt cable than the 3' that comes with the monitor, that way you have a little more wiggle room for the workstation setup.
