The BG-N21 Battery Grip from Vello is designed for use with the Nikon Z 5, Z 6, Z 6 II, Z 7, and Z 7 II mirrorless cameras. Will this grip charge batteries while Nikon Z7 is ON? Unlike Z7 II the first Z7 normally doesn't support this (USB charging works only with camera turned off). So the question is if you can plug USB power to the grip to keep batteries charging/ constant power during the prolonged camera operation.
While the batteries can be charged inside the BG-N21, the camera can only be in the off position.

Yes you can charge the batteries while using the camera with the grip, you just need to ensure that you are using the En-EL15c batteries, and that you are plugging the charging cord into the side of the camera and not into the grip.
