    Domke F-2 reviews

F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 183.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built bag! Perfect carry around bag. Tough construction with thick canvas. I can easily load a 40D with a 24-105 f4L mounted, along with 4 other lenses, pocket wizard set, 2 metz 48 af-1 flash units on the front pocket, another 2 in the back pocket (or other accessories), a cell phone, wallet, filters, maps, all into this bag. One issue is the hardware that Domke used. The hook locking system is cumbersome to operate and it also takes time to open it. Domke could've used more velcro, or a different system to replace these hooks. Note that the bag does get pretty heavy with all this gear so I do recommend you go to get the USPS shoulder pad, other than that, it's a great bag!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Bag with some Fatal Flaws This is a great bag and i dont need to reiterate its great features. However, I want to point out two fatal flaws are (a) not weather proof and (b) two front metal latches. I got caught in the middle of a nasty thunderstorm on location in China a few years ago,and my F2 was soaking wet inside out. As a result the fabric color was coming off. I'd like to suggest Domke use waterproof nylon instead. Secondly, the two metal latches should be plastic so they can't accidentally bumped into gear while changing lenses in a rush. Preferably just one plastic latch in the middle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Domke camera bags This is my second Domke bag in 20 years. My first was an F3 which served me well. I carried it with me everywhere on assignments. The fact that I needed more room and the F3 was finally getting holes worn in it, I decided to purchase the F2. It is taking a little getting used to, sort of like when you change wallets, but I think it's going to be just what I needed. If the F2 serves me as well as the F3 did, then this will probably be the last camera bag I will need. Expertise: Professional photographer Problems Encountered: None so far. Rated 4 out of 5 by from My Second Domke Bag This is my second Domke bag. I have the smaller, F 3, as well. When I recently went full frame, I found my original bag wasn't big enough for the D700 with the 24-70 lens attached. I read the reviews and decided to purchase another Domke bag because I felt so comfortable with my original bag, which still is in use with my D300s. The reason for 4 stars is that the 4 pocket insert doesn't work well with the lens on the body, so I purchased the 2 section insert. With the 2 compartment insert, I can get the camera with the lens on, plus two other lenses. The end pockets have plenty of room for flashes, charge cords, cleaning supplies, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You want to talk ORIGINAL F-2 Bag? I bought my first Domke Canvas camera bag in 1979 while I was working as lead photographer for a major corporation. I still have it and just bought another because the old one is covered with patches from projects I've worked on and I suddenly decided that having NASA program patches all over your camera bag looks a little tacky. So it's only going to be used for vacations. The bag is built to last! Compartments are easy to slip into for lens changes and the broad strap is comfortable so if you're running and gunning, you can shoot without having to loose the bag. It's also just the right size to fit under an airline seat or overhead luggage compartment. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Domke F-2 For my use, this bag is just about ideal. So far I've filled it with a Pentax K-5 (smallish DSLR), 70mm and 100 mm prime lenses, a 16-50 zoom lens, a full sized on-camera flash, and a small pile of accessories. And I still have room for more. Materials and construction are heavy duty and first rate; I can see why others report that these bags see long years of service. Once adjusted to the proper length, the strap is comfortable and the bag fits snugly against my lower body. I do wish I could remove the shoulder strap if not needed, but to me this is very minor. All in all, I'm glad I acquired the Domke F-2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Domke F-2 bag for photographers The F-2 Domke bag is the perfect size for my photo gear. I fill it with my Olympus EM-5 (mirror-less camera) and six lenses. There's plenty of room left over for accessories. I use this setup as a go-to bag in the back of my SUV. It's perfect as a storage bag when I'm on the road - just pop open the SUV'S tailgate, pull what I need out of the bag, transfer that stuff into a smaller bag - and I'm on my way walking to a nearby photo scene! This bag is beautifully made - typical for Domke. It's perfectly designed for all photography situations, and the amount of equipment it holds is amazing! It has my highest recommendation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag This bag holds more than one might think. It has nice deep outside pockets that hold flashes, remotes, batteries, etc.. The inside is very versatile and will hold a pro DSLR with medium lens attached, a couple 2.8 lenses with hoods (up to 70-200 2.8) and a couple other narrower lens or other odds and ends. The back pocket is good for filter gels and flash diffusers. Lastly the hood zip pocket is a good place to put cards, cables, other smaller loose things. This bag just feels good to wear and is well thought out. It is no wonder it has been around for so long with little change. The only addition I would add, would be the postal shoulder cushion. It will tame those days when you find out this bag holds more than you think.
