When you're getting everything ready to shoot, you don't want to take precious time fighting ridiculous plastic brackets that don't even fit correctly, let alone deal with adding velcro to your light system. Do NOT buy this product. It's going back.

I own several GVM LED lights. Although they are intended for video production, I use them as continues light for my still photography and portraits. I find it useful that I can also dial in light temperature.

It will be a very tight fit not recommended. This Angler Collapsible Softbox BH #ANLEDSB1818 will work very well with the 672S

Can this softbox be used with other panel lights that are close in size? Is the mounting style unique to GVM, or will it work with other brands too? Thanks!

I would think that it could be used with other panel lights of similar size. They are soft-sided and held in place by velcro strips. Once the sides are put on, the filter is also applied with velcro.

Not sure about this, but on my 800D's - which they are made for - the fit is snug. If the 1000D has different physical dimensions, chiefly if they are LARGER, then I would think they would not be a good fit.
