Close but no cigar
Overall, the LensCoat is very nice and functional. The reason I did not give 5 stars was the only drawback; slick surface. During cold weather or if your hands are dry, rotating the zoom or using the manual focus can be difficult. This can mean the difference between a good shot and a lost shot. Having silicon dots or grippers on these bands would greatly enhance the product. For my use, I have added the gaskets from old travel mugs and this works great. See image. Previous reviews have stated the problem with the switch window, and I agree that it needs to be improved or left open.
LensCoat is the way to go.
When I purchase a new (larger) lens I put it in a LensCoat cover from day 1. If I ever sell the lens in the future, it is totally scratch proof and remains in brand new condition. Yes, with the external zooming lenses like the Canon RF 100-500mm lens there is the problem of covering that portion while zooming back and forth. If I am in a blind, I just pull the cover over that portion. Some people use thin laminate to cover their lenses. Perhaps I could use it on the zooming portion, but I like the thicker protection of the LensCoat over the other portions. I don't mess with any knockoffs either.
