    Domke 700-40B reviews

F-4AF Pro System Bag (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from incredibly well thought out Had this bag for years .Made in USA of quality materials. Here's what mine usually holds... In the main compartment it usually carries a 100-400L , Sigma 12-24 , Canon 5D with 24-105, and a 3 filter pouch .One outer pocket holds Nikon 8x42 binoculars and the other a 430EX flash and ball blower. Front pocket holds microfiber lens cloth and spare lens/body caps and G7 point and shoot , Under top compartment for chargers ,spare batteries and memory . Maps/notebook in back pocket. total weight with all this stuff around 17 lbs. Reasonably water resistant , but don't leave it out overnite in a monsoon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it It is great working bags if you want to get camera/lenses in and out easily. I added 3 cushion padding from J-1 end pockets into its three pockets and I can put one body without lens in the front pocket, sigma 10-20 with hood in left pocket and 17-35/55mm with hood on the right pocket. Inside I can put D2-series Nikon body with lens attached in main compartment (I also use the one from J-1 bag without any insert) and there is a space left outside the compartment that I can put 70-200vr vertically or I can put two primes in a leather Nikon bags next to each other e.g. 105mmvr, 85mm f1.4. I am saying that it holds a lot if you know how to use it. From what I say, it carries 2 bodies with grip, at least 5 lenses. It looks great and it is light. I don't use Domke J-1 bag I have because it is heavier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Day Bag This bag is perfect for a days shoot. I carried a D700 w/grip, and at 17-35m f/2.8 lens attached. In the inserts, you can carry two items. I had the 24-70 f/2.8 lens and a 50m f/1.4. I placed a SB900 in one of the side pockets. Rear pocket allows for cords, cards, batteries etc. It is actually half the size of the F1X A Little bit bigger bag. So when you need just a few items to grab and go, this bag fits the bill. Perfect for a bag to always have a camera handy. Gripper shoulder strap is nice and doesn't slip. You can't put too much in the bag so it doesn't get overly heavy. It will not carry any large lenses, but it isn't designed to do so. I always ask buyers of products I'm interested in if they would purchase the product again. I would definitely buy this again. No regrets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Domke Winner I started using a Domke F-1 with my F3HPs years ago. Held 2-3 bodies and 5 lenses with film. When I got a D90 and a new set of lenses, I used the F-1, but it just didn't quite fit right. The newer lenses were longer and fatter and I didn't need room for film, etc. I finally tried the F-4AF and am extremely satisfied. All the factors I've always liked about Domke bags are still there - light, soft/collapsible, great strap and good materials and workmanship. Plus the bag is just a bit taller for the longer lenses and the spaces are a bit bigger. The result is a great bag for my D7000 and 16-85 with room for 70-300VR, 10-24, 10.5/2.8 and either the 60/2.8G or 105/2.8VR macro. I can substitute the 300/4 AF-S or 200/4 macro for the 70-300 as conditions require. I don't really need the additional pockets, but they can be handy at times and crush down when not filled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Friggen AWSOME Ive an XTi with grip,, a 100-400L and the 1855IS I read some reviews and wondered about the 100-400L fitting in it, IT DOES,, tons of room, for extra batt-packs, and anything else, i carry my chargers in it and phone, when i head out for my folks house, well built easy to carry, and doesnt look like a purse, or camera bag, nice padding, and the cover covers everything nice, I run an open jeep, off road,, no dust, or mud, This is a good quality bag, and still room for more lens's im working on getting a 100mm, and a 24mm and know there will be room,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as big as Domke says I ordered the bag because I needed a larger one than the F6for my Nikon F5 and the three zoom lenses I usually carrywith me (17-35, 28-70 and 80-200). I have to say that thereis no way of fitting a large camera with zoom lens intothe compartment. It is only possible to put the camerawithout any lens, not even with a 50mm, into the cameracompartment. Then there is room for two other zooms in thelens compartment. There are two side pockets, large enoughto take the SB600 in its case, and plenty of film and filters.I love Domke bags, but the carrying capacity of this one isreally over-stated. Expertise: Advanced Amateur Problems Encountered: It's far smaller than specified. The F6 is larger. Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Domke F6 - a little bit smaller bag

Rated 4 out of 5 by from best daily bag I've found ! Best bag Bar NONE. Holds: D700; 70-300VR; 17-35; 24-85; 50 1.4; SB800; Flashmeter; 3 batteries; 4 (4)AAA; 2 CPolar; Blower & Eclipse clean kit; 2 chargers; flash cord; remote shutter; USB & Video cords; lighsphere 3; ponco; wetnappies; lens brush; tripod tools; Pens & notepad; model releases 3x5's; velcro'd on back loops B180 monopod; and probably 1/2 dozen items I've forgot... Only thing it won't hold is the Sigma 150-500 Bigma and the Tripod. They go across the back and the other shoulder. Shoulder strap is amazing, carry all day not a hint of a slip, and when that gets tiring use the handle, rarely use the cover clip except on transport, velcro hold the cover closed without spilling. You can pop the top and everything is right there. Padding needs adding to, but not much, recommend 1/4 closed cell hard foam cut to fit bottom, another to fit back pocket (outside of the pocket to protect YOU), remove the pad between camera insert and lens insert adds 1/2 for camera. I've never had anything fail on this and have used it on weddings; reunions; proms; baseball games; football games; Civil war battles; portrait shoots; birthday parties; drunken parties; siteseeing trips; nature shoots; swamps; beaches; rain forests; blizzards; (hows come I ain't dead??) and still going. If rain threatens close it up and pull down the sides, only the back pocket is unprotected. This is not an underwater bag, nor an artic bag, it's a photog's bag for everyday use. Besides hiking is for backpacks, I don't do rainstorms on purpose, and I saunter not hike... I got a new Bigger bag for travel, what a mistake, ended up back with the F4AF. It's now 10 years old and still looks as good...opps forgot about the wine stains on the back...oh well wages of traveling.
