Vienna Symphonic Library Timpani II Overview

A subset of the Synchron Percussion II collection, Vienna Symphonic Library Synchron Timpani II Standard Library is a virtual instrument with a library that accurately captures the sound of five timpani played with soft mallets. The instruments were recorded at Synchron Stage A Vienna with every nuanced detail using seven phase-controlled multimicrophone setups. The included Synchron Player allows you to mix the microphones to create stereo mixes, each with different levels of ambience and stereo panorama.

Synchron Drums II offers a small tam-tam with a diameter of 27.5". Unlike the two tam-tams of Synchron Percussion I, it has a flat rim. The instrument was recorded with up to 10 dynamic layers and 12 round-robins for single strokes, using hard and soft mallets. To create various effects, the tam-tam was hit and scratched with triangle beaters, beaten and swished with big brushes, made to sing with a super ball, rasp and squeal with sticks, and bowed to excite its overtones.

The library offers a selection of Burma gongs with a broad tonal range ranging over four octaves (C2-C6). They were sampled with up to 12 dynamic layers and four round-robins for single strokes. There are single hits and rolls played using hard and soft mallets. Varied effect sounds include articulations with rods, brushes, and a rasping stick, as well as hits and scratches with triangle beaters and singing sounds produced by a super ball.

The collection of China gongs contains an assortment of gongs with ascending glissando and gongs with descending glissando. They were recorded with up to eight dynamic layers and eight round-robins for single strokes. Various rolls are also provided.

Note:
Software requires a ViennaKey USB protection device or other USB eLicenser, if one is not already on the system (available separately).
