    Yongnuo YN650EX-RF Reviews

    Average Lifespan is 9 months

I purchased 2 of these Flashes last June 2025, and one is already done for in March of 2026. It is a good option for affordability, but not for longevity. The main feature that I use is the external power supply, which many flashes do not have at this time.

    Great speed light!

This strobe is pretty fast. I have run it at 12fps from my Canon R5 and it keeps up at 1/32nd power. Set up 4 of them and it's a lot of light at 12fps. I believe they're rated to go up to 20fps if your camera can support that but I haven't tested it. Obviously that's probably at 1/64th power. For $139 four of them are $540. Still less than a Profoto A10. Matter of fact, one could buy about 8 of these for the cost of a Profoto A10. The A10 isn't brighter than 2 of these strobes, lol. It probably isn't brighter than 1 of these strobes. It might shoot a little faster a little longer. The thing is, even with Profoto once the battery voltage drops it will slow down the recharge rate. All Profoto's specs are best case for the first 100 shots, after that, the battery voltage drops and the $1,000 advantage goes out the window.

No, this is meant to work on Canon systems. So it may mount, but you will not have full functionality on a Nikon camera.

Has there been a firmware update in the last ...

Has there been a firmware update in the last year? Can we use the LEDs as a proper modeling light, or will the flash still not fire when the LED's are on?
    Asked by: Alan
There are no firmware updates mentioned for the flash currently. When the LED's are on, the flash will not fire so the LED does not work well as a modeling light. The Godox V1 would be a better option if you want a flash with a modeling light: https://bhpho.to/3CbWXP8

The YN650EX-RF TTL Speedlite can be triggered with the YN622C-TX, but you must have one of the Yongnuo YN-622C II E-TTL Wireless Flash Transceiver for Canon (2-Pack), BH # YOYN622CII to receive the signal. https://bhpho.to/3wcHURY
