Outfitted with an expansive database that includes objects inside our solar system and many deep-sky objects, the Sky-Watcher SynScan v5 Hand Controller provides alignment assistance, GoTo capabilities, and accurate tracking, so you spend less time trying to find objects of interest and more time observing them. Designed to only work with their SynScan mounts, the hand controller comes with two cables: one for Alt-Az mounts and another for Equatorial mounts. Its simple menu-driven interface makes it easy to navigate the 42,000-object database, plus setup and alignment features and various other functions. An integrated USB 2.0 type-B port allows you to perform firmware updates from the Sky-Watcher website or remotely control your telescope from a PC running planetarium software.

Can this be used with the other two tripods... the Sky Watcher S21140 and the S21170... instead of the WIFI Phone links? I need a wired hand controller.
The Sky-Watcher SynScan v5 Hand Controller Will work with the Sky-Watcher AZ-GTe GoTo AZ Mount (BH #SKAZGTE • MFR #S21140). However the Sky-Watcher SolarQuest Motorized Alt-Azimuth Solar Telescope Mount (BH #SKSQM • MFR #S21170) cannot be used with this hand controller.

Sometimes during overseas shipping a film develops on the contacts. Take a pencil eraser and rum the battery contacts in the unit. Also check with Sky-Watcher if there has been any firmware updates.
