Vello ShutterBoss 4.0 Overview

The Wireless ShutterBoss 4.0 Remote Timer and Trigger for Select Canon Cameras from Vello offers enhanced levels of exposure control with timer functionality, featuring interval shooting, long exposures, continuous shooting, and a self-timer.

Achieve time-lapse photos of blooming flowers, sunsets, or the night sky. The wireless remote allows reduced camera shake when photographing subjects under high magnification or at slow shutter speeds—the less the camera is touched, the sharper the image. Capture candid photos or photograph dangerous subjects remotely from up to 196 feet away. Choose from 1 to 199 continuous shots or set the remote to trigger an unlimited number of photos.

The Wireless ShutterBoss 4.0 is lightweight, portable, and the perfect companion for photo outings or your next wilderness adventure. The transmitter and receiver are each powered with just two AAA batteries (not included) and quickly pair with an Automatic Smart Code. Set programs quickly using intuitive controls and an easy-to-read backlit LCD screen that displays your active settings and illuminates in low-light conditions. This remote system is full-featured, compact, and a powerful, creative tool for your photography.

Interval Shooting
Easily trigger a camera at timed intervals up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds in one-second increments. Set a timed delay, the interval between shots and the exposure time. This is ideal for shooting long exposures and time-lapse photos, like flower blossoms and star trails.
Two-Second Delay
Set up a self-portrait in front of the camera with extra time to prepare for the shot.
Exposure Count
Select anywhere from 1 to 199 continuous shots or set the ShutterBoss 4.0 to take an unlimited number of exposures.
Exposure Time Bracketing
Bracketing a series of shots allows you to capture several images at different exposures. You can later combine these images in post to create HDR photos or use this feature to select the best exposed image.
Wireless Range
Shoot from up to 196 feet away to capture candid photos or take pictures of dangerous wildlife from a safe distance.
Smart Code Pairing
Smart code pairing works automatically and chooses the best frequency between the transmitter and receiver. This way you can use both devices right out of the box with very little setup time.
Backlit LCD Display
The backlit LCD panel provides visual reference to your settings as well as activity indicators showing what's currently running on the remote. The display also illuminates for working in low-light situations. Even in the dark, you can be in control.
Audible Beep
The ShutterBoss provides an audible confirmation after each exposure in a sequence or disabled for silent operation.

Vello ShutterBoss 4.0 Reviews

Works well, the opposite of flimsy.

Great Intervalometer

I purchased the Vello Wireless ShutterBoss 4.0 predominantly for the intervalometer feature. With Sony discontinuing Imaging Edge Mobile and the new app not compatible with my camera model, this was a solid solution and doesn’t require an extra app on my phone. The manual was helpful, but I found trial and error with some YouTube videos to be more beneficial. This is simple to use and reliable. The only critique I have is that I wish the on/off button were setup differently to prevent the device from turning on in the camera bag.
